1st / 2nd pony for kind, knowledgeable PC family near Ledbury, Herefordshire.
We are looking for the next pony for our 10 year old son, who has outgrown his 12hh. Prefer a quiet and kind, older ‘been there done it’ type for all round PC activities, hacking and weekly private lessons. We have our own stables and land at home and hacking from the door around fields, orchards and lanes.
We are an active PC family with 3 children in the North Hereford PC. We attend lots of varied rallies in Dressage, SJ, XC, Tetrathlon ODE, mounted games and camp, as well as the odd ridden show and low level SJ competition for fun. My son would like to go hunting if we had something safe enough. After quite a number of years off, I’d also like to be able to hack out or school occasionally - I’m 9st.
My son is a quiet and confident rider, however our ponies have been very kind, on the ground and to ride, so he hasn't had to deal too much with things going wrong! We love his enthusiasm and we'd like to continue his education, but do need a safe, kind, well-mannered pony for him - both on the ground and to be ridden, that isn’t going to fizz up, bomb off or bronk around the school, and is going to behave itself tied up at rallies and shows. I also need it to be good to load into a trailer, 100% traffic, catch, clip, farrier, vet etc for me!
I'm happy with older ponies, as I believe they are great teachers, but they do need to be generally problem free please (we have a lovely 24 year old Welsh B that is still going strong!). We can offer a kind, knowledgeable, loving home with plenty to do, and lots to be part of. No rearers, bolters, bronkers, head shakers or pullers please.
Please let me know whether you have something that may be a good fit. I am not in a rush, and I'm happy to wait for the right pony! Happy to loan or buy, but budget is not huge. I can gladly provide details and videos of my son’s riding as well as references from PC, instructors etc. Relatively local please (ideally within 2 hours?)
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I look forward to hearing from you - emails with details, location and photos would be really appreciated.
