I am looking for a 14.2hh wise, experienced and calm all-rounder to look after my very tall 9 year old daughter (she is already 5ft2''), to enjoy doing a bit of everything, and take her from Walk/Trot dressage tests and 60cm jumping to the next level
We are an active Pony Club family, so show jumping, cross country, dressage, Tet, hacking, fun rides, camp and possibly a bit of hunting will all be in the mix. Pony needs to be responsive to the leg, but not too forward-going or strong, and well schooled enough to work correctly and rhythmically at walk, trot and canter and not hot up when jumping
My daughter still has the odd 9 year old wobble / confusing aids so the pony needs to be calm enough to handle this without over-reacting and importantly keep her confidence up. Ideally pony will have been outgrown by a 12-14 year old, not someone off to uni, so the riding change for the pony will not be too huge!
Pony must have great manners, both being ridden and on the ground (my daughter loves caring for her own pony), enjoy fuss and attention, and good to catch, shoe, clip, load and travel (in a trailer)
Needs to be happy to hack alone or in company, good in traffic, calm in large open spaces and not hot up in the company of others - definitely no buckers, rearers, nappers or bolters please! She enjoys competing, so pony needs to behave well at shows, happy being tied to a trailer etc
No history of laminitis, sweet itch or wind suckers I am afraid. Ideally a gelding, but would consider a mare if she meets all the above criteria
We can offer a loving, knowledgeable, fun and busy home with stable and unlimited turnout time. References available from Pony Club and instructor. Fair budget for the right pony
