Pre-HOYS preparations.....

Before HOYS we try not to do too much preparation so the horses don't realise HOYS is any different or more stressful than any other show they have done all year. Lisa has never been to HOYS so I don't know what she will think of it, it is very different to jumping in a field eventing, which is what she is most used to!

She had her HOYS clip two weeks ago and her coat is looking very good. It was a worry that it would go a horrible colour as she is dun, but she does have a very good coat so we have been lucky, and hopefully it stays that way!

After Burghley Lisa had a break from jumping and just did lots of hacking to chill out after her very busy summer. When I jumped her for the first time in the school last week it was quite hairy! We then took her to the Addington pre-HOYS worker day where she jumped clear in both her classes, the 1m and the 1.10. Yesterday she had a jumping lesson with Harry Dzenis who had given me some lessons earlier in the year. Lisa and I hadn't had a jumping lesson since before the Winter champs in April! But she jumped like a pro and Harry said he would like a 16.2 Lisa! On Sunday Lisa is going to Onley for her last HOYS prep to jump. So hopefully that all goes well and then she can have a chill out before hoys!

I travel up to HOYS on Tuesday to ride Julia Rude Rodgers', Ashley Rancher on Wednesday in the New Forest Flat class. I am then helping Ruby-Jae Drummond with my old pony and precious HOYS champion Tynwydd Good Friday (Smartie) on Thursday. Ruby has never competed at HOYS before so is very excited! Then my Mum will drive up to the NEC with Lisa on Thursday for my class on Friday morning!
