Honest and Heartbreaking Sale of a Stunning Cracking Fun Little Project Horse
15hh 6 year old bay gelding , Irish x Welsh (no breeding recorded), brilliant conformation, hardy leg in each corner.
Garry aka Lando is a cracking fun little horse in the right hands. He is suitable for a competent older teen or adult. I have owned Garry for a year and unfortunately him and my 13 year old daughter are just not clicking which is devastating as we have put so much time and effort into him, but as his education is progressing so is his brain and now he is just over horsing my daughter.
Jumping: He loves to Jump! The bigger the better! He jumps anything! Will make a fantastic show jumper or event horse !
Flat work: We have worked a lot on this! He is flashy! He has 3 lovely paces and goes in an outline. His transitions have now become more up hill and we have been working on voice leads!
Dressage: Would make a fantastic dressage horse. Currently scoring over 70% in BD dressage and has always been placed even out of 30! Admittedly this is only intro, but they have all got to start somewhere!
Hacking: He prefers company, but I have taken him out on his own. He needs someone confident that can hold his hand as he can be spooky. This is just a confidence thing . He has seen all kinds of farm machinery etc. we have done some long reining on the road too which has built his confidence up.
On the ground: He has character, he is always making me laugh with his goofyness. He can be mouthy (like babies can be) . He likes to be in the lead on the way to and from the field or he can occasionally get wound up and therefore requires someone competent again. Saying that my daughter handles him and does everything on the ground with him. He can be very cautious around new people, he likes to build trust and a bond. He could live out, currently out at night and stabled in the day for summer. Has had longer periods stabled over winter. He can be turned out in a mixed herd as he is currently field sharing with a Mare.
He travels, and has been XC schooling, dressage comps and clinics with previous owner (which I bought him locally and I’m still in contact with them) .
He is shod on the front, and is fine for the farrier.
He is up to date with vaccinations which are due in October. However, he is not keen on the vet! He needs to build trust with them again. I did manage to get a 5 stage vetting done for him last May which he passed. A small iris cyst was detected which is a very common find and can be treated if you really wanted it to be, but it doesn’t effect him or his vision at all. Two tiny tiny pin prick bumps (not the right word) was found, vet said they could be tiny fly bites but could not rule out that they could develop into sarcoids. I haven’t been able to find them since . Vet certificate can be shown and seen.
He is a special little horse and he is going to make someone very happy. This is completely heartbreaking as this is not what I would have ever dreamed of writing. I ultimately need to do what’s right for him and my daughter and not what I want.
Please only serious enquires from competent people that has got the time to put into this special lad.
