For sale due to the owner's work commitments and wanting to progress in different areas. Polly is a lovely 16.2hh 12-year-old grey mare, suitable for a confident jockey who's quiet and understanding, both ridden and in the home environment.
This mare is sensitive and can be spooked by unexpected noises or situations. However, with a gentle and patient rider, she can thrive. She's not suited to reactive, busy riders.
I've done lots in the 3 years I've had her, hunting team chasing at intermediate, hacking alone, beach rides, but think she's best suited to a showing, dressage, side saddle, pairs hunter trials, hacking home. Or a confident all rounder home. She's been excelling in dressage getting scores of up to 72% in unaffiliated prelim and started doing novice tests and always being placed. Working towards lateral work now. She has established and correct paces. Been placed in online side saddle classes and 1st place in her local riding club showing classes.
She's good to shoe with a lick, it helps her stand still better, clip small wireless clippers, dentist a small amount of sedation is required to help her relax.
She loads every time in a 510, loves standing in the trailer watching the world go by at shows. Currently has a full breast bar and unloads very calmly. Did find that with a partition, she didn't like the tight turn out and would rush/panic.
She's currently living on her own and can be strong when turning in and out of her field, especially with the presence of motorway noise on one side busy main road on the other. A chifney can be helpful in these situations for her.
Has been lame in the past and had corrective shoeing. But all is fine now on standard shoes and has been for 6 months.
This mare would thrive in a quiet and peaceful environment with facilities to keep her mind busy and a gentle and experienced rider.
Correct Home and rider are essential.
