Meet Patrick – a smart, kind-hearted cob with a fabulous temperament and bags of potential. At 10 years old, he’s a 15hh skewbald gelding who’s already proving himself as a fun, forward and rewarding ride — and with the right rider, he’ll go far.

Patrick is the sort who thrives on a job. He loves being in regular work and is at his best with a confident and capable rider who wants to enjoy everything from cross country and showjumping to dressage and hacking. He’s bold and enthusiastic over fences and has a naturally balanced way of going that shows real promise on the flat. With further schooling, he could absolutely turn heads in a dressage arena — he’s just starting to come into his prime.

He’s done low-level clinics, jumping, hacking and has the makings of a cracking Pony Club or Riding Club all-rounder. Happy hacking on his own, though he does prefer company — and is solid in traffic. He’s also a total gent to have on the yard: polite, affectionate, easy to catch, and handle.

We’re heartbroken to be selling him, but my daughter simply doesn’t have the time to do him justice with her GCSEs approaching. This is a genuinely difficult decision, and Patrick will only go to a home where he’ll be loved, kept in regular work, and given the opportunity to shine.

He’s not one to leave in the field for weeks and then expect to hop back on — he needs consistency to stay at his best. But for someone who wants a fun, honest horse with so much to give, Patrick could be a truly exciting prospect.
