16hh 9 year old (2016) bay gelding - great first horse for competitive child coming off ponies or all round Pony Club or Riding Club competition horse.
Jack is a true Pony Club all rounder. Owned by us since a 5 yo he has been brought on in Pony Club doing mainly rallies, show jumping, eventing, arena eventing and hunter trails but also residential camp and extensive hacking at home (alone, in company and groups, good with traffic). He has a scopy jump and huge ability jumping creating an attractive bascule over fences. No problems with water, ditches, etc. He has competed for the Belvoir PC in show jumping and eventing at 90 & 100, and went to the PC championships in 2023 & 24 and NSEA Championships 2023. He does a reasonable dressage test and could do so much better if his rider put in the flatwork!!
Originally bought by my eldest daughter as a lockdown project where she introduced him to all disciplines competing at 80 & 90, when she went back to university post lockdown my younger daughter took him on as her first horse aged 13 and has taken him up to 100 level.
He is a sweet, kind horse to handle and can be turned out with mares and geldings. Very happy stabled - he loves his “bedroom”! Travels in a trailer or lorry and loads well. Happily travels alone or with company and very settled if you take him out training/competing on his own away from his companion.
At 16hh he is short coupled and as such rides more like 15.2 and always in a snaffle. He’s pretty uncomplicated, although like most thoroughbreds can put in the odd spook and likes to build a strong bond with you to trust you.
ROR eligible, he only raced four times, point-to-point in Ireland very unsuccessfully!
Heartbreaking sale only because my daughter really wants to hunt going forward and he does NOT hunt, it is the only thing he hasn’t turned his hoof to whilst we’ve had him.
Just to be clear he wind-sucks hence more modest price tag for this super, much loved horse. His wind sucking has never caused us any problems, just something we’ve learned to put up with. He does not crib.
