Ted has introduced me to affiliated showjumping and I’ve learnt so much from him over the last two years. It was something I always wanted to do but I never had the horse to do it until Ted. He has a careful jump, never says no and will go off any stride. He’s forgiven all my mistakes and enjoys his job.

Ted is snaffle mouthed at all times with three lovely paces and a big expressive trot. We’ve done a handful of dressage tests and he always scores well.

We started competing BS in March 2025 (first time for me and Ted) and he qualified for Novice 2nd Rounds 2026 with one more DC to get to qualify for Discovery 2nd Rounds. We have been to four stay-away shows together and loved every minute of it. Ted currently has 125 BS points with winnings of £250. We are still actively competing and training with a professional show jumper.

Ted has been xc schooling and jumped ditches, banks and water. There’s no reason why he couldn’t event, I just don’t enjoy cross country any more so we haven’t done any in the last 12 months.

On the ground, Ted is like a big Labrador. He never uses his size against you and loves a fuss. Ted will hack alone for a confident rider or he is happy in company. We’ve done beach rides and lots of riding club activities including a Hickstead camp.

He’s good to load in a trailer (I have an Ifor 511) or in a lorry. Easy to clip, good for the farrier and for the dentist. No vices. He currently lives out 24/7 in the summer and in at night in the winter but he’s happy with any setup.

Sad sale and a difficult decision as I just feel he is a bit too big for me, although he does have the advantage of making all the jumps look tiny. He needs to find an excellent home with someone who loves him as much as I do.

Ted can be tried at our professional trainer’s yard near Bordon, East Hampshire. He comes with a bridle and a selection of rugs.
