Owned since a 3yo, Penny has consistently been one of the easiest and most reliable ponies on our yard and is now ready to find her perfect little partner in crime.
Class 1, 14hh, 2020, connemara mare, N/N.
I backed her myself as a 3yo and I did lots of bits and bobs with her to give her a great all round education as a youngster including lots of hacking, arena hires and went unaff SJ.
I then opted to put her in foal to a stallion I compete purely due to convenience in timing for me as a 4yo, so she missed the end of her 4yo year and start of her 5yo year to have the foal (which I am retaining) and I brought her back into work when she was weaned in September. She picked up right where she left off and I can literally say you can get straight on her with no lungeing or worries even when she’s not been ridden for a year!
She’s now fully back in work, been to lots of places and is ready to do it all with somebody else. She’s totally genuine and straightforward in all ways and all she ever does is aim to please. She’s nicely schooled with a snaffle mouth, responsive to all of the aids, good transitions and auto flying changes. She loves the jumping and is sensible with it so doesn’t tend to over jump unnecessarily which makes her perfect for a child, but equally, she has a huge amount of scope for big tracks in time when she’s ready for it. Excellent to hack both alone and in company - we don’t see fast traffic on our hacking route but she has seen everything from pushchairs to tractors and trailers and is happy first or last.
She’s seen ditches, steps, water, all manner of XC and SJ fences as well as working hunter fences, water trays etc.
She’s got the perfect brain for a child to be able to put the additional mileage on her without adults or professionals needing to do the work.
Penny’s only available because I simply have too many as I got carried away breeding and she’s not matured into the chunky, substantial stamp of connemara I’d hoped she would be when I bought her as a 3yo.
For reference though, I am 5’8” so she still carries adults no problem whatsoever and is unlikely to ever be outgrown in height or ability.
Clean and correct in all ways, no vices and I know she’s going to be a family best friend and pony of a lifetime for a lucky child. She’s been ridden and jumped by children as young as 8yo and I have even used her to give my very wobbly novice friend a lesson on…that’s how much of a superstar she is.
She’ll stand all day happily being cuddled and groomed and is the type of pony who you could send your child out alone to catch her, bring her in, groom her and pick her feet out, tack her up and get on on their own without a worry.
Happy living in or out, alone or in company and has always got on really well with anything I’ve put her out with.
Has travelled on 3.5T box mostly but also an 18T lorry and ifor trailer and has always stood quietly even when we’ve unloaded all the others off the lorry.
If you’re looking for easy going…here she is.
