Spirit is a lovable, cheeky and affectionate pony with a huge personality and a genuine desire to please.
We’ve owned him since he was 8, at which point he was barely broken, and he has become a much-loved part of our family.
He would suit someone looking for a super fun all-rounder and a true best friend.
Spirit has beautiful flatwork, works happily in a snaffle, and can comfortably jump 60–70cm courses out and about, but could easily jump bigger.
He is forward, responsive, and light to ride, though he can be a little sharp at times when the jumps get bigger.
With a balanced, capable rider he is incredibly willing and rewarding.
Spirit loves a lesson environment, where he really concentrates and tries his heart out. He has been out on loan on our yard for the last two years and has been fantastic for his rider, achieving multiple red ribbons in dressage, winning the NSEA National Intro Pop-Up Dressage League 2025, and placing 7th at Prelim. He has now been sadly outgrown.
He is not a novice ride and is best suited as a second pony. He is forward-thinking and true to his Welsh nature, can be a little spicy — there is an occasional buck, though he is generally a chilled and easy ride when ridden correctly.
Spirit hacks out happily with another horse or with a human on foot and is excellent in traffic, including cars, bikes, and large vehicles.
He also hacks alone confidently with an older rider.
On the ground, he is lovely to handle:
• Easy to catch (usually the first to come over)
• Loves grooming and attention
• Friendly and sociable in the field
• Bonds strongly with his people
He lives out most of the summer and is stabled overnight during the winter. He has no vices. He loads well in both lorry and trailer — straight on with company, and touch more persuasion when loading alone and travels really well.
Spirit is barefoot, using Scoot Boots for hacking, and is fully up to date with vaccinations, dentist, physio, and farrier. He does have EMS, which is common in Welsh types and is easily managed with a controlled diet. He is currently in tip top condition, fit and ready to go.
For clipping he generally only needs doing once in the winter, he is easy to body clip but does not like top of neck and head, we twitch for this bit and that works well.
He can come with his saddle, bridle and lots of rugs.
This pony means a great deal to me and will only go to the very best, knowledgeable home.
No trials or loans, although a loan with view to buy from our yard may be considered for the right local home.
