Joey is an absolutely beautiful, top quality, kind Connemara with excellent conformation & a superb CV to match. HWSD N/N
He is double BCPS dressage champion & has competed successfully upto Advanced Medium & knows all the moves. Has very well established lateral work, changes & transitions. He has very quality paces and has a trot more like a Warmblood style, while having the very trainable brain of a Connemara. His owner who has trained him from a 4yo feels he could go higher in the right home if desired.
He is brave and straight forward to a fence without being strong or silly. The owner more recently has been dressage focused but he has competed in XC & SJ competitions up to 1m with the scope and attitude to go higher. We have been jump schooling him around 1m / 1.05 consistently here with the odd 1.10 fence and he is economical but careful and clever over a fence. Doesn’t seem to think anything is big! I could see this guy being an unbeatable prospect for Badminton Grassroots and a real weapon out eventing. We took him XC schooling on Tuesday and he was a machine jumping everything in front of him and loving it.
He’s a well established, kind boy who absolutely loves his job and competing - so a competition home sought for this much loved special boy. He’s such a rare gem and deserves the very best home. He’s an easy horse but always been ridden by a balanced, capable rider so looking for a rider to match what Joey wants to do.
Hacks alone or in company on / off road and has been to the gallops too.
No vices. Good for farrier, clipping, dentist. Loads and travels well (owner has a 3.5T and has previously had a trailer). Owner did mention she had a big lorry with tack lockers in horse area when he was a 4yo and he did jump on those a couple of times. Happily lives out in the summer too.
This is an ultra rare horse to come on the market and a very sad sale for the owner of their much loved family horse. For sale due to no fault of his own but instead family circumstances. 5* home absolutely sought.
Has no recent medical history but does have a 5p piece flat sarcoid on his neck which hasn’t changed since a 3yo so owner has never felt the need to treat it. Not in the way of tack and not noticeable.
Full wardrobe available as owner giving up.
Private sale on behalf of long term owner
