Taz 'Our Surprise' (out of Voigts Anky Panky) is very smart, quality mare looking for a knowledgeable and sympathetic home where she can continue enjoying her work- particularly dressage, which is what she seems to enjoy most.
She has spent the winter competing at Prelim unaffiliated/Pony Club dressage with a 16-year-old rider, consistently improving with each outing.
Flatwork-wise, when in full work she has established:
Leg yield
Shoulder-in
Mediums
Walk to canter
And had started work on:
Travers
Simple changes
She is sharp, opinionated, quirky and can be spooky, so absolutely not a novice ride. She is also refreshingly non-dramatic in many ways- she can happily be left in the field, brought in and ridden without silliness. Absolutely does not need riding every day to stay sensible. Barefoot and a good doer- never sick or sorry.
She has never bucked/bronced/bolted but has reared (has done so twice in the past 3 years and was very uncharacteristic). Good to load, trim and clip (although her legs can be tickly).
Jumping-wise, she is happy to pop fences at home, but has shown that SJ/XC competing causes her stress and inconsistency. I investigated this last year with a full work up at the vets who concluded it was likely behavioural. As a result, we feel she would be happiest and most successful focusing on dressage, fun rides or general allround activities rather than eventing/showjumping. She is fabulous at stay aways!
She hacks well in company and is fantastic on fun rides and off-road hacking, although she becomes worried by fast traffic on larger roads and can be strong when excited (ridden in a pelham).
She has had a quieter few months while her rider focused on GCSEs, so will need bringing back up to competition fitness/workload.
Please note:
-She has a sarcoid on her inner thigh. It has been there for approximately 4 years and has not changed significantly so didn't feel the need to remove it.
-Occasionally weaves when stressed.
-Can head toss if she feels she's being 'grabbed'.
This is a really genuine sale of a much-loved horse due to lack of time. She has huge amounts to offer in the right home, as she is sensitive to seat aids and extremely intelligent, but she needs a confident, patient rider! Please Whatsapp for videos, my signal isn't great so please message first if you'd like to call. Also available with saddle (Albion K2 Adjusta Dressage Saddle) for additional cost. Price negotiable for the right home and reflective of the points above.
