Meet Spud – a handsome, kind hearted heavyweight cob and the ultimate confidence giving best friend type. A beautiful big chap with the sweetest nature, he’s the perfect weight carrier and has so much to offer his next person.
Spud has spent the last few years as a much loved riding school horse, teaching intermediate riders and helping them develop confidence, control, contact, accurate transitions, pole work, and basic jumping. He’s wonderfully versatile equally happy plodding along on the buckle enjoying the scenery, or working nicely into a soft, consistent contact in the school.
Spud absolutely loves a good forest ride, happily going for hours, popping the occasional log, and if there’s a river to splash through, even better so don’t forget your armbands!
He hacks alone or in company and has been thoroughly enjoying village rides, happily stopping to say hello to dog walkers along the way (Spud is a big dog fan!). While the riding school didn’t offer hacking as part of their programme, he has proven himself to be a genuine pleasure out and about.
Spud has been a true gentleman and loyal servant in the riding school environment, but now I would love to see him step into a home where he can simply be someone’s best friend rather than continuing to look after unbalanced riders. He would be ideally suited to an established rider who wants a safe, enjoyable all-rounder to relax and have fun with.
On the ground, Spud is everything you could wish for kind, easy, safe, and a complete gentle giant. He loves other horses and happily lives in a mixed herd.
Spud has been exceptionally well cared for throughout his life, is blemish free, and comes with a wealth of experience while still having plenty of life, love, and adventures left to give.
This lovely boy truly deserves a 10? home where he can enjoy a bit of everything with his forever person.
