Dusty is a 14’2hh, 8 years old, Irish pony.
He was purchased just over a year ago (passed a 5 stage vetting) to be a young girl’s quiet, calm, confidence giving, forever pony.
Unfortunately, he is just too sensitive for a nervous, novice-ish rider, which has led to some issues (happy to discuss). As such he hasn’t done much this last year.
With a confident, balanced, competent rider he is a fun competitive allrounder. With such a rider on board, he has successfully competed in prelim dressage, winning his test. He has also successfully competed in 80 and 90 cm showjumping, going clear. He is non spooky and easy to ride to a fence, Jumping all fillers, water trays, triple bars etc.
He has done some arena evening at 70 and 80cm and placed 2nd and 3rd respectively, giving a fun ride. He’s been taken xc and jumped all jumps, ditches, steps and water with no issues or worries.
He has schooled at home over 1m and has a lovely jump- with the right rider id imagine he would be competitive up to this height. For a confident, competent rider Dusty would make a wonderful allrounder/ competative ODE pony. He’d also make a lovely working hunter show pony.
He is snaffle mouthed at all times.
Has never been sick or sorry.
Hacks out alone or in company- first or last- doesn’t get excited.
Has never reared or bucked.
Is easy to do- doesn’t mind being left in the field or stable alone. Is low down in the field pecking order. He has lived out 24/7 for the last year but is always happy to come into a stable.
Loads easily onto lorry or trailer. Waits quietly at shows, even if you take a friend away, he makes no fuss.
Easy to keep- hay and hifi/ balancer. Good with farrier- he has great feet (shod in front- but easy to do behind) but could easily go bare foot.
This year he was sedated to clip but only because he had dentist at the same time- he has no issues with having his bridle path clipped so can’t see clipping to be an issue.
I have to stress- HE IS NOT for a novice rider. He is a sensitive pony that is very aware of his rider’s movements/noises.
He has panicked in the past with his novice owner and does show nervous moments with more confident rider but it doesn’t escalate if your competent (happy to discuss).
Lots of pictures and videos of him available.
Priced at 9k but open to an offer for a quick sale- they would also be open to a swap situation for an older or less sensitive pony that would suite their daughter.
