Wisper is a handsome 10-year-old, 14.2hh dark bay gelding looking for an experienced, knowledgeable home where he can truly thrive.
This is a completely honest advert because finding Wisper the right long-term home is far more important to us than making a quick sale.
Ridden
Wisper has three beautiful, floaty paces and is a lovely horse to ride. We feel he would be best suited to someone looking for a fun hacking partner, with the option of low-level dressage.
Although he is completely sound, Wisper isn't naturally strong behind and doesn't have a great deal of natural impulsion. He is happiest out hacking and enjoys getting out and about, whereas schooling isn't his favourite activity. However, with a varied, sympathetic routine and the right rider, we believe he has the potential to continue enjoying some dressage alongside his hacking.
He has successfully competed at Prelim level and qualified for the Petplan Championships in 2023. Following this, he spent time training and hacking before having six months off due to his owner's lack of time. He returned to work with us earlier this year and has come back into work well.
On the Ground
Wisper much prefers living out with access to shelter and is not a horse who enjoys being stabled for long periods. He can become defensive when confined to a stable, although we don't know the reason for this.
He stands to be groomed and tacked up, although he does enjoy pulling the occasional face! Underneath his grumpy expressions is a genuinely sweet horse who loves affection when he's in the mood. Like many sensitive horses, he has his off days, and understanding this is key to getting the best from him.
His Ideal Home
Wisper is a quirky, characterful horse who simply needs the right person. Without those quirks, he would undoubtedly be advertised at a much higher price, but our priority is finding him the forever home he deserves.
He needs someone patient, kind and confident who is willing to invest the time to build a genuine partnership. In return, we believe you'll have a loyal horse who will flourish once he trusts his person. He responds best to calm, consistent handling from someone who is fair and sympathetic, while also providing clear boundaries.
For this reason, Wisper is not suitable for novice riders or young children. He is looking for an experienced home that will appreciate him for the lovely horse he is and continue helping him reach his full potential.
If you think you could be Wisper's forever person, we'd love to hear from you.
