Dominion is a striking Irish Sports Horse with three expressive paces, a lovely trainable attitude and an exceptionally kind temperament. Having completed his police training, he has taken everything asked of him in his stride and has proven to be a genuine, willing horse.
He is a well-schooled, snaffle-mouthed, leg-on ride who enjoys his work and would produce a lovely dressage test. He hacks confidently both alone and in company, although most of his recent hacking has been with others.
Dominion is an absolute gentleman to handle. He is affectionate, easy to do in every way and has a calm, genuine nature that makes him a pleasure to have around.
During his time with the police there were concerns that he wasn’t moving as well behind as they would have liked for the demands of police work. He was medicated as part of their investigations, however this did not result in any noticeable improvement and no specific cause for this has been identified just that he is weak behind. The decision was therefore made that the role simply wasn’t the best fit for him long term.
We feel Dominion would thrive in a normal private home with plenty of turnout, regular work and a varied routine. As a big horse he is a little weak behind, but we believe this is something that can continue to improve with sympathetic schooling and strengthening work.
