17.2hh | 9-Year-Old Gelding by Spartacus
Quality, low-mileage gelding with scope and a very exciting future.
Kermit is a 17.2hh, 9-year-old homebred gelding by Spartacus, out of a Vaillant (For Pleasure) mare. Spartacus is a proven international sire, having won the Grand Prix of Oslo and achieved numerous placings at 1.60m level.
Kermit is only offered for sale because he has simply grown too big for me. At 5’2”, I can no longer do him justice over the bigger tracks.
Although lightly competed for his age, Kermit has all the attributes to make a top horse in the right hands. Last year my brother competed him up to Foxhunter level, while at home and at training venues he has comfortably schooled around 1.30m–1.40m.
Due to his limited competition mileage, he can still be a little spooky in the ring at times. As a naturally careful horse, he likes to have a look, but he is incredibly genuine and forgiving of rider mistakes or less-than-perfect distances. Despite his size, he is quick, athletic and careful, with plenty of scope.
Kermit hasn’t been jumped in the ring since last summer due to a major house and yard move from Devon to the midlands. He is now fit, back in work, and ready for someone to continue his education and take him further.
He is a pleasure to have around, with excellent manners both at home and at shows. Easy to handle, load, travel and do on the yard.
His pedigree speaks for itself, and his dam has already produced proven talent. His full sister, standing just 15.2hh (I’m still not sure where Kermit’s extra height came from!), has successfully competed at 1.30m, and his younger siblings are also showing plenty of promise.
Kermit is a quality horse with low mileage, a fantastic temperament, scope and carefulness. With the right rider, I believe he has the ability to become a very competitive horse and has a very exciting future ahead.
