8-year-old grey Welsh Section A gelding, approx. 12hh.
A lovely traditional, stocky type with plenty of bone and substance who really takes up the leg. Correct conformation with straight, quality movement and traditional breeding lines. He has plenty of presence and we feel he has real potential in the show ring.
He has done a bit of everything with us, including hacking, schooling and local shows, and two summers ago was regularly ridden and hacked by two sisters age 10 & 12. He has had a quieter time more recently, so is still relatively green as a competition pony and would benefit from a home that can give him consistent work and continue his education.
He is very friendly and loves attention, is good to catch, box, travel, shoe and clip, and will happily stand tied up on the yard for hours being groomed and fussed over by children.
He is, however, very much a proper Welsh pony! He is bright, intelligent and full of character and can be strong or enthusiastic in hand, particularly when excited. He benefits from confident, consistent handling and is not suitable for a small child to lead and manage independently.
Under saddle he is genuine and capable, but he is clever and will take advantage of an inexperienced rider if allowed. We therefore feel his ideal home would have a competent child rider alongside a small adult or experienced older child who can ride him when required and keep his education progressing.
With further production we think he could make a really smart M&M pony, show hunter pony or competitive all-rounder. Equally, he would suit a knowledgeable family wanting a quality pony for hacking, Pony Club, local shows and general fun.
He isn’t being sold as a finished first pony, but as a quality, genuine pony with plenty of potential for the right home. We think he will absolutely thrive with consistent work and someone who appreciates a clever, characterful Welsh pony.
