15-year-old Irish sports horse seeking a loving long-term home with a new best friend .

It is with a heavy heart and unfortunate circumstances due to me going to university in September that I am looking for a new home for my much-loved horse cookie, based in Warwickshire.

After a successful competition career, it is time for him to step down from eventing and enjoy a quieter lifestyle full time as we have been winding down on competing over the last few years. As a younger horse, Cookie did a lot of jumping which we believe contributed to a suspensory injury which has been fully rehabilitated as the vet advised leading to him being sound and has been for years. Therefore, we are looking for a home where he can continue to enjoy a lower-impact lifestyle – hacking through forests, beach rides, fun rides and simply being someone’s best friend.

He has so much love and life to offer someone wanting a genuine fun horse to enjoy hacking and low-level riding. He still enjoys a good pole exercise and a relaxed clinic here and there but loves a good hack.

Cookie has a wonderful temperament and is a pleasure to own. He is easy to catch with treats, handle, shoe, load, travel and is an all-round kind, genuine gelding who when he gets to know you is very affectionate.

Our priority is to find someone who understands his history and is committed to putting his comfort first. He would suit a knowledgeable rider looking for a quality horse to cherish rather than compete.

I truly believe Cookie still has so much to offer the right person – you can see in his face that he loves to be taken out of hacks and enjoyed. Please don’t let his history put you off – Cookie deserves a loving home where he can continue to thrive and be enjoyed
