Beau retired sound from racing in March 2022 and has been in the same loving home ever since, where he has enjoyed a varied and fun second career.
During this time, he has regularly attended Riding Club clinics, formation riding and Working Equitation clinics, alongside competing at Intro and Prelim dressage, consistently achieving scores of 65%+ with lovely comments from the judges.
Beau is happy alone or in company and has spent much of the last four years exploring Dartmoor, often on solo adventures. He is confident over all types of terrain, happily goes through water, stands patiently at gates and is perfectly content waiting while you stop for a chat. He's well accustomed to cattle, sheep, dogs and Dartmoor ponies. Beau is sensible in traffic, although he can occasionally have a little look at a large rattly trailer if it catches him by surprise.
Although jumping hasn't been a major part of his life so far, Beau has attended the occasional gridwork clinic with his owner. Since arriving with us, we've started introducing him to more jumping and he has proven to be an honest, brave and straightforward ride. He's unfazed by fillers and has taken everything in his stride.
Beau has now been to his first show jumping competition and behaved impeccably throughout the day. He jumped two lovely, confident rounds, taking everything in his stride and proving himself to be a very genuine and straightforward horse in a new environment. This has given us even more confidence in his potential as a competition and all-round Riding Club horse.
Beau is an absolute delight to have around and has quickly become a yard favourite. He is good to catch, clip, shoe, load and travel, with lovely manners both in and out of the stable.
He has an old scar on his near hind, which has never caused him any issues whatsoever. Photos can be provided on request.
This is a truly genuine sale of a much-loved horse, only available as his owner is looking for a smaller model. He will only be sold to the very best of homes.
We feel Beau would thrive in a variety of homes and disciplines. He would make a fantastic Riding Club horse, a smart all-rounder or an ideal partner for a competent teenager wanting to enjoy Pony Club activities.
