Sofie comes from an exceptional performance family. Her granddam Annamieka VDL was Reserve Champion at the Dutch National Free Jumping Championships, while the wider damline has produced numerous 1.45m–1.60m horses and approved stallions.

Her sire is by the current superstar Ermitage Kalone, out of a half sister to the legendary Grand Prix winner Itot Du Chateaux
