Pandora “Penny” — 16.3hh, 7-year-old KWPN mare
Penny is a beautiful, quality KWPN mare with three lovely paces, a super attitude to work and a genuine desire to learn. She has been carefully and sympathetically produced with her long-term future in mind and is now looking for a knowledgeable, competitive home where her potential can really be maximised.
Imported from Holland as a 3-year-old, Penny was originally purchased with eventing in mind. She has been produced slowly and correctly, particularly as she arrived as a big, weak-framed youngster, and I have always been conscious of giving her the time to mature and strengthen.
She has competed successfully in unaffiliated dressage and British Dressage (sadly lack of time this season due to eventing commitments has been mainly unaffiliated) from Prelim through to Novice, consistently receiving lovely comments from judges. Most recently, she won a Novice Championship class, demonstrating her potential and trainability.
Penny has also gained experience in eventing, including a one-day event, as well as several show jumping outings. While I feel her strengths are better suited to dressage than progressing as an event horse, I genuinely believe she has the movement and attitude to excel as a dressage horse.
She is a correct and attractive mover, with three quality paces and plenty of scope for further development in the right hands.
Away from competition, Penny is equally straightforward. She hacks alone or in company and is accustomed to all manner of traffic, including tractors, buses and trains. She is good to clip, shoe, load and handle and has always been ridden and handled by a 5’2” rider. She is currently ridden in a snaffle.
Most importantly, Penny has a wonderful personality. She is kind, affectionate and genuinely enjoys her work. She is intelligent, willing and loves learning new things.
This is a very sad sale, and one I have not taken lightly. However, with limited time for her due to eventing this season, I feel it is only fair to find Penny a home where she can get out, compete and continue progressing and be someone’s main priority
