Queen Kroon — “Poppy”
Poppy, is a lovely 13-year-old, 15.3hh Irish Sport Horse mare with an excellent pedigree and a wealth of competition experience. Breeding: Sired by Kroongraaf, with Burggraaf as her grandsire, a proven 1.60m Grand Prix show jumper. Her bloodlines also give her potential as a broodmare for someone looking to breed from proven jumping/eventing lines.
Poppy is an ex-event horse who competed up to Novice/1* level. Due to medical reasons following an injury, she has now retired from competition and is looking for a quieter life as a happy hacker. She is unable to return to competition or undertake demanding ridden work.
Poppy is a genuine, experienced happy hacker who will:
- Hack alone or in company
- Go at the front or back
- Is unfazed by traffic
- Is used to heavy farm machinery and busy surroundings, as she is stabled on a working farm
- Enjoy getting out and about
She is not suitable for a novice. Despite stepping down from competition, she retains the attributes and experience of a competition horse, so a competent, confident and knowledgeable rider is required.
Poppy has a lovely temperament and is a pleasure to have around the yard. She loves a fuss and being pampered and is a real character.
She is easy to clip, shoe, travel and for the vet.
She would suit someone looking for a quality, experienced mare to love and enjoy rather than compete.
Poppy’s full medical history and the circumstances surrounding the end of her competition career will be discussed openly with genuinely interested homes.
This is a very difficult decision and Poppy will only be considered for a kind, experienced 5* home. She has given so much during her eventing career and deserves a loving, forever home where she can enjoy the quieter lifestyle she now needs.
