Very sadly looking for a new home due to my daughter's work and study commitments, which means she no longer has the time to ride.
Dexter is a handsome 15.2hh, 21-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding who has been a much-loved member of our family for the past six years.
He has previously competed at Elementary level dressage and is well established in all three paces. He would be lovely for an experienced rider who enjoys schooling and hacking and is looking for a quality older horse to enjoy at a quieter pace.
Dexter hacks alone, but much prefers company and is excellent in all traffic, including heavy traffic.
He is a kind, sensitive character who can be strong, so he is not suitable for a novice or nervous rider. He would suit a confident, experienced person who understands him and can offer sympathetic, consistent riding.
He is good with the farrier, can live in or out and is generally straightforward to handle. He can be a little tricky to load initially, but ok once he's got the hang of it if he's going out on a regular basis. He requires sedation for the dentist and clipping.
Dexter is sound without medication and has no known health issues. He has been out of ridden work for the past couple of months due to my daughter's commitments but is generally straightforward to bring back into work.
He does not jump, and we are looking for a quieter ridden home where he can enjoy hacking, light schooling and plenty of attention.
This is a genuinely sad sale, and finding the right long-term home is far more important to us than a quick sale.
