Super Connie who needs a competent rider to match his talents and cheekiness.

Great to hack in company or alone but can still have a spook or a look at things (more on his own) so I wouldn’t say he’s a happy hacker. Great with all kinds of traffic as we live on a busy road. Has done lots of clinics (poles, showjumping and xc) and been on pleasure rides, taken him to camp and on holiday.

He doesn’t enjoy schooling and takes a competent rider to get the best out of him but will do a pleasing dressage test if you persist! Has recently been out doing some unaffiliated showjumping at 70 and 80 with placings every time. He always jumps round in a steady rhythm and doesn’t rush. About to step up to 90. Has been Xc schooling and was happy jumping everything we asked him to. Has been hunting and found it very exciting and was strong but enjoyed it immensely.

Good to shoe (fronts only), clip (needs a twitch for his head), and loads in a trailer or lorry. Up to date with vaccinations and wormer. Currently living out on a small home yard. Has also been on livery yard where he came in at night during the wintertime and out during the summer. He ideally needs plenty of turnout.

His only real quirk is that he is best travelled on his own if you are competing as he doesn’t like being separated from his mates. Absolutely fine if you are going on a ride or to the forest together etc.

I want to be completely upfront that he did not pass a 5* vetting earlier this year on hind flexions and he has melanomas under his dock. I had my vet investigate and came to the conclusion that he probably has some mild arthritis setting in and is currently very happy on a good joint supplement and plenty of turnout as well as regular work. The melanomas have never bothered him and they are what they are. He has always been a very sound little horse with no lameness issues whatsoever.

This is a very honest advert as I have come to the sad decision that he needs a braver more competent rider now as I have turned into a bit of a nervous nelly in my old age and he picks up on that. He’s clever and deserves a rider that he can put his trust in. Both my freelance rider and sharer don’t have any problems with him so it’s definitely a me thing. He would be perfect for a low level riding club/ pony club home but is not really a novice ride as he does have an opinion occasionally. He’s also clever and so will work out who he can take advantage of very quickly. I won’t sell him unseen and welcome any questions.
