Skyfall – 16.1hh | 13yo | Black Warmblood Mare
Skyfall is a quality, well-bred Warmblood mare with lovely paces, plenty of scope and a great jump. Sired by Fantaland, with Bliss as her dam.
She is a very capable mare with plenty of ability and lots to offer the right person. She is not a novice ride and can be a little quirky at times, so requires a confident, experienced rider who can ride her positively and give her clear direction. She benefits from consistent work and would be best suited to someone who has the time to keep her in a regular routine.
I have owned Skyfall for nearly five years and have enjoyed her throughout that time as an amateur rider. We have done plenty together, including jumping, hacking and some competition outings. She isn’t a horse that requires a professional simply to ride and enjoy her, but she does need a confident and experienced rider. I feel that to progress her further, particularly in a competition environment, she would benefit from someone with more experience in producing and competing horses than I have myself.
Skyfall really enjoys her jumping at home and has plenty of scope. She is not being advertised as a ready-made competition horse. I have taken her out competing; however, I am inexperienced in a competition environment myself, and I feel that establishing her away from home requires more experience, time and confidence than I can currently give her.
For someone experienced in producing and competing horses who is prepared to put the work in, I genuinely feel there is much more to come from her. Equally, she could suit an experienced rider with no desire to compete who simply wants a talented, quality horse to enjoy and jump at home.
She hacks and has travelled in both a trailer and lorry. With her jump and gallop, I also feel she could potentially be an interesting prospect for hunting with the right rider, although she has not hunted with me. She may equally suit another discipline that I haven’t explored with her.
Her breeding, quality and athleticism could also make her an interesting potential broodmare for someone looking to breed, although she has not previously bred.
On the ground, she is straightforward with routine care. She is excellent to clip and has always been good for the farrier and vet.
This is a genuine sale due to university commitments and the commute involved. Unfortunately, I no longer have the time she deserves to keep her in consistent work and get her out regularly. I have taken her as far as I feel able to as an amateur rider and would love to see what someone with more time and experience could achieve with her.
Absolutely no novices please. She needs a confident, capable and experienced home.
Priced realistically to reflect that she is not currently a ready-made competition horse and will require time and work from someone wishing to pursue that route.
