Before we took on the role of owning Hilly, he was a race horse competing in hurdles for the majority of his career and ending his career in point to point. The reason he ended was due to no longer enjoying racing. After racing he did hunting and lots of XC
We bought Hilly in April 2023, at the time he had been off the track for 6 months. Hilly has been the best horse I have owned. He is kind, elegant and so full of love. He cares and loves other horses. He has never kicked out at people or even horses and does not bite or has ever been aggressive. He will try his best at everything and will give you his all.
Some of his best specialties is his boldness for XC. He is very willing to jump anything and will lead you all the way in a XC course. At XC he has competed at 1 metre but is capable of jumping a lot higher, the reason why would be done to my confidence, nothing is holding Hilly back from jumping higher. His boldness applies to SJ as well as he would jump anything in that course with no hesitation at all. For SJ he has competed at 1 metre as well but I have jumped him higher at home around 1.20m. I would admit that his SJ could do with a bit more work but he can still give you a clear round and a first place for you. He is beautiful at dressage and will present a captivating test for the judges. He gets lots of compliments!!
Hacking wise he is fantastic. He could be anyway in a group of horse in a hack and can easily hack alone. In an open field he is controlled and will always listen to you. I must say if you let him go for a gallop he will definitely show you some speed but when you need to stop, he will definitely respect your orders and slow down.
In the field, he is currently with a herd of horses and is very gentle and kind towards other horses, you could put him in a field with another new horse and he wouldn’t be mean or aggressive at all. To disclose, he doesn’t like to be separate from a group of horses for a long period time and can become anxious if so.
He is perfect when being groomed, shod, bathed, clipped, rugged, fly sprayed and when he is getting his injections done. He is fantastic when getting his teeth done as well and to load the horse box, sometimes he can be a bit stubborn but that’s only if he hasn’t been out in the horse box for a while. He has never faced an injury or illness while being with us. The only thing he had were sarcoids when we first bought him but they were quickly removed and have never come back ever since or caused any problems.
Reason for him being is sold is due to time management. Right now I have entered my first year of A-levels and have realised that Hilly no longer receives my full attention which he deserves so to continue to purse my academic dreams and commitments I must unfortunately sell him to some one who can give him their full attention and love which he deserves.
Hilly can be very forward going sometimes and needs a rider who is determined, confident, strong and experienced for him to be the best and fulfill his full potential. Hilly could easily adapt to any style of riding. All we want is for him to go to a loving and caring home where he will be treated the best at. Hilly is my heart horse and I only want what’s best for him. We care about him so dearly and this was not an easy decision but it must be done so the only thing we could ask is for him to go to the best possible home.
