We are looking for a very special home for Bertie, a lovely 13.2hh New Forest pony.

Bertie is 22 and has spent the last 6 years in a riding school. He belonged to a family member who sadly passed away, and we now feel it’s time for Bertie to enjoy a slower, quieter pace of life.

We would love to find him a kind home where he could enjoy some hacking and plenty of fuss, or he would be equally happy as a companion pony. We are not looking for a busy or demanding ridden home for him, he’s done his years of work and deserves to take things a little easier now. He can still be ridden, schooled and even enjoys jumping but all occasionally rather than regularly. If you do try to school him regularly he will put in the odd cheeky buckaroo move to let you know these days are done. It’s nothing wild and easy to sit. My daughter has now figured out when he’s going to do it and so can avoid him doing it but you need to take the time to listen to him.

He would suit a teen or small adult rather than a novice child.

Bertie is easy to do, loads well, is good for the farrier and is barefoot. He respects electric fencing and is good to catch, particularly when there’s a treat involved! He can happily live in or out.

He’s a lovely, straightforward older boy, and finding him a kind, knowledgeable home where he can enjoy his later years is our priority.
