Fred (Scotshaven Sinclair) is a cracking 14.2hh 14yr old registered Fell gelding looking for a new home.
He’s great on the ground, is happy to ride out all day, will pop over a jump, and is generally just lovely to spend time with. Ideally suited to a confident teenager or mother/daughter share.
The good points:
- A genuinely lovely and very cuddly pony
- Beautiful movement when loose - looks like a mini Friesian!
- Exceptional groundwork - will backup, yield etc from very light pressure. He also has the basics of movements like Spanish walk. He also enjoys games like join-up
- Previously used as a demo horse for my friend’s horsemanship clinics - both ridden and on the ground
- Great for long distance rides and will go all day. We’ve done 40km rides this summer when the weather has allowed and I’ve previously done multi day treks with him as well
- Has a nice little jump. I haven’t done over 70cm with him but definitely shows potential to go further
- Beginnings of schooling are established
- Great in traffic
- Hacks alone or in company
- Is barefoot and has excellent hooves. Great with the farrier
- Happy to be out year round
- Is as good to be ridden in a rope halter as a bridle with a bit
- Loads and travels perfectly
- Perfect to be hosed/wormed/dentist etc
The bad points:
- Has PSSM2 which can make him sensitive to cold temperatures. Easily managed by rugging or lunging prior to riding
- Mildly spooky but never nasty - will look at things but won’t bolt / rear /spin etc
- Has been known to buck occasionally - generally only when initially mounted after a long period off work or when it is suddenly particularly cold
- Not up to date on vaccinations
