Goodwin Junior - 10-year-old 148cm JC gelding
Very special and genuinely competitive pony looking for his next jockey as Kate comes to the end of her pony years.
Junior has an exceptional record of qualifying for major championships, including:
- HOYS Newcomer final - qualified at first attempt
- HOYS Foxhunter final - qualified at first attempt
- HOYS Pony Showjumper final - qualified at first attempt
- Royal International JC final - qualified at first attempt
- Royal Highland JC championship - qualified at first attempt
- Royal Highland 148 championship - qualified at first attempt
- England 148 team at the English Home Pony 2025, having jumped the only clear in the first team qualifier
- Newcomers clears already secured for the 2027 second rounds
His 2026 HOYS qualifications were particularly special, securing all three HOYS tickets at the Scottish Home Pony - winning the Foxhunter Second Round with the only clear in the second phase, finishing 4th in the Newcomers Second Round and 5th in the Pony Showjumper qualifier.
He has also finished 6th in the Great Yorkshire Junior Challenge and 8th in the Hickstead Winter JC/JD Final, alongside competing successfully at many of the country’s leading pony shows.
Junior is a JC with 547 points, a huge stride and plenty of scope. He is exceptionally well bred, by Quidam Junior I out of Goodwins Go Deo, by OBOS Quality 004.
Junior is genuinely difficult to mount, and any prospective buyer must be completely comfortable with this. He requires a confident, competent jockey and an experienced person on the ground. This is a genuine, established quirk that we do not want to minimise. Once mounted, he is completely different - he settles and gets on with his job. He is therefore not suitable for a novice, nervous or inexperienced jockey.
Kate has ridden Junior for nearly two years and they have built a fantastic partnership. He's a pony who knows his job and has repeatedly shown that he can deliver when it matters.
A very sad sale purely because Kate is coming to the end of her pony years. The right experienced competitive home is extremely important to us.
Full history, including his mounting issue, will be discussed openly. Plenty of videos available. Serious enquiries only.
