THE ULTIMATE RIDING CLUB / AMATEUR SCHOOLMASTER
Billy Otto
16.1hh | 12yo | Gelding
Billy Congo × Amulet
If you’re looking for a quality, experienced horse who’s been there, done it and knows his job, but is equally happy to step down and enjoy a varied life — Otto could be exactly what you’re looking for.
A very well-bred gelding by Billy Congo (Vechta × Animo Elite), out of a mare by Amulet, combining some lovely proven jumping bloodlines.
Otto has successfully competed up to 1.20m level, with a very respectable record and plenty of wins under his belt. He has all the experience there for someone who wants to be competitive, but we think he could be absolutely perfect for a capable amateur wanting a quality horse to enjoy at riding club level.
Otto has been in the same home for the last four years and is only now looking for a new home after his rider unfortunately had a bad accident last year and has made the difficult decision to cut back on riding.
He’s a really lovely horse to ride — easy, uncomplicated and rides beautifully on the flat. He’s good to hack and generally a very straightforward, enjoyable horse to have around.
We could really see him making a super riding club/all-rounder, mother-daughter share or quality amateur’s horse. He’d be great fun for hacking, lessons, clinics, camps, sponsored rides and lower-level competitions, while having all that experience there if his rider does want to be competitive.
He’s the sort that has been there, done it and got the T-shirt and could give someone an awful lot of fun.
We have been told that if he hasn’t jumped for a while he can occasionally be a little spooky at a fence, so he wouldn’t be one for a complete novice, but once he’s back in the swing of things he knows his job.
He is exceptionally clean and correct, completely sound and barely has a mark on him — a real credit to his previous home.
A smart, genuine and very useful horse who still has plenty to offer. We think he could be a fantastic fun horse for a capable amateur or riding club home wanting something quality, experienced and competitive.
