Prince is a lovely, kind natured 9yr old, 14.1hh grey Connemara gelding looking for a knowledgeable, loving home where he can enjoy a quieter life hacking.
He is a real character and an absolute sweetheart to have around. He is easy to catch, load and tack up and is happy living in or out, making him straightforward to manage day to day.
Prince genuinely loves hacking and is very good in traffic. He is unfazed by lorries, tractors, motorbikes and general road noise.
He hacks happily alone or in company and is equally happy going in front or behind. He is good with cyclists, dogs and the usual things you come across when out hacking.
He is always ridden in a snaffle and has always been ridden by our 12yr old daughter.
He has no vices, lumps, bumps or sarcoids and is fully up to date with his vaccinations.
A little about his history
We bought Prince a few years ago as a 4yr old for our daughter, for Pony Club, showjumping and cross-country. It became clear that jumping really wasn't for him. He would refuse and become quite difficult when asked to jump, so we stopped.
A subsequent lameness work-up found a slight conformation issue with one of his hind legs. We were advised that appropriate shoeing could help support/correct this, which we have done. We have given him plenty of time and taken things slowly with his rehabilitation, and he has been happy in work as a hacking pony the last six months.
Hence he is only suitable for a hacking and leisure home only.
Prince is not being sold as a competition or jumping horse and we are looking for a home that understands and is happy with this.
He can be a little boisterous in the field in a large group, particularly when living out, but settles very well with his little Shetland field companion and is much happier in a smaller, settled group.
This is a very difficult decision for us as we have had Prince for several years and want to find the right home rather than simply the next home. We would like to keep in touch with his new owner and would genuinely love to hear how he gets on.
Serious enquiries only, no time wasters. Homes will be vetted.
