🖤FELIOD BEST OF THE BLUES🖤
Rising 4 | Purebred Irish Draught | DNA-confirmed Black | 16.1hh on the stick.
It is with a very heavy heart that, following unforeseen circumstances which have resulted in Jonjo recently being gelded, I have made the difficult decision to offer him for sale.
Those who know me, and particularly those who know Jonjo, will appreciate just how much time, care and investment has gone into this horse. Purchased as a weanling, he has wanted for absolutely nothing and has been produced with his future firmly in mind.
Jonjo is a substantial, quality Irish Draught with almost 10 inches of beautiful, clean, flat bone, excellent breed type and an abundance of presence. DNA-confirmed black, although his coat does lighten with sun bleaching during the summer months.
By the Class 1 stallion Penmerryls Rhythm & Blues, and a grandson of Touch Of The Blues, out of a Class 1 mare by Coolcronan Wood, he carries bloodlines associated with some outstanding performance Irish Draughts.
Professionally backed by Sarah Wright in June this year, Jonjo took everything in his stride, proving willing, trainable and naturally balanced in all three paces. Ridden regularly by Sarah's 17-year-old daughter during his initial education, he also happily popped a small fence, showing a positive attitude and plenty of promise.
His ridden education has deliberately been kept minimal, as I have always believed in allowing a young horse the time to mature rather than rushing his development. He has subsequently continued with appropriate groundwork and light exercise.
Jonjo is recovering exceptionally well from his castration and has recently been brought back into ridden work over the past couple of weeks. He is now happily hacking and schooling, proving willing, trainable and eager to please. Naturally, he is still green in his education, but he is progressing well and is exactly where I would expect a young horse of his age and experience to be. He has a lovely attitude towards his work and continues to show plenty of promise for the future.
An athletic, bold and impressive young horse, Jonjo recently achieved a GOLD award at the British Breeding Futurity evaluations, where he received praise for his conformation and athletic ability.
He also enjoyed a successful in-hand showing career as a two-year-old, including a trip across to Ireland where he won his class at the National Breed Show.
With his quality, substance, movement and natural athleticism, I believe Jonjo has all the attributes to develop into a Top Class MW Show Hunter, Working Hunter, Hunt Horse, or even Household Cavalry in the right hands.
I have full clean X rays taken as a two year old for insurance purposes which can be available for any serious buyer, however he is open to vet.
This is a horse I had every intention of keeping, and offering him for sale is not a decision I have taken lightly. I would love to see him fulfil the potential I have always believed he possesses.
Vaccinated & wormed to date, loads and travels like a star, good to bath & shoe, we haven’t needed to clip his body but he’s always been good to clip his feathers.
Serious enquiries only please.
