15hh | 6-year-old | Chestnut Cob Cross | Mare
📍 Out Rawcliffe, Lancashire
Rusty is a lovely 15hh, 6-year-old chestnut cob cross mare with a white stripe and a huge personality. She is an affectionate, loving and characterful mare who absolutely adores attention — and especially treats! She is the sort who will happily investigate your pockets given half a chance.
Rusty is currently living out and is out of work, having only been in very light work over the last three years. She is therefore a green, lightly educated horse who needs an experienced person willing to put the time, patience and consistency into bringing her on correctly.
She has the potential to enjoy a variety of activities, including hacking, schooling, fun rides, showing and general riding, and would be a lovely project for someone wanting to develop a young horse and build a partnership together.
Rusty hacks alone and in company. She can be occasionally spooky, particularly around traffic, so she needs a confident rider who can give her reassurance and guidance. She can also become nappy when ridden by someone lacking confidence, particularly if they repeatedly get off, so she is not suitable for a novice.
She has never bucked or reared and has no known vices.
Rusty is good to load and travel, and is very good for the farrier, dentist and vet. She has not been clipped while with us, so this would need introducing gradually and patiently.
Her schooling is very much at the beginning of her education and she has not yet been established over jumps. She has no competition record.
Rusty has recently undergone a veterinary assessment, with no lameness or significant concerns identified. Veterinary documentation can be shown to genuinely interested buyers.
🏡 THE RIGHT HOME IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT
Rusty needs an experienced, confident and knowledgeable home with someone who understands green horses and is prepared to invest the time into her education.
She is a kind mare who responds well to someone who is patient, fair, consistent and firm when needed. She needs someone who will continue her education and help her develop into the horse she has the potential to become.
The reason for sale is simply that one of our horses is currently out on loan and Rusty has returned home. We unfortunately don’t have the facilities or time to give her the level of education and development she deserves.
We are therefore looking for a genuine, knowledgeable forever home where Rusty can feel safe, settled and continue to learn without developing unwanted habits.

No timewasters, please. Rusty’s future home is more important than a quick sale. ❤️
Price can be negotiated, but don’t want time wasters due to really wanting her to go to a good home those that are willing to pay a little more for such a sweet animal would be the right home for her.
