Introduction
Probably the most extraordinarily extensive and complete service/maintenance/modification record of any lorry on sale.
- Elite model, built by the renowned JM Horseboxes - manufacturers to Harry Meade, Tim and Jonelle Price, etc..
- The perfect size of lorry to live with - at 12t, it has a larger living and bathroom, with extra-large slide-out and fully raised third-bed roof, and is stalled for 4 large horses; while it drives like a 7.5t.
- The first owner spared no expense in speccing it; and we have spared no expense in perfecting and maintaining it (both body and chassis) meticulously.
- In excellent mechanical condition, as confirmed by the condition report from our mechanic this year.
£86,000 spent on work over the last 4 years - all itemised in a 140-line spreadsheet (available to view); and the archive of all 25 invoices will be provided to the next owner. £26,000 of that was spent by Oakley, from whom we bought the lorry in 2022, in sale preparation. Thanks to having done so many improvements initially, we have only had to spend an average of £2000 over the last 2 years to maintain it - and to the same perfectionist standards!

About our JM
- The big bills that we have spent, to make the lorry the standard it is now, were with AJ Horseboxes - the North’s approved repairer of Oakley, and Theault, horseboxes. AJ - Adam Jackson - is the most knowledgable and passionate horsebox expert - the quality of their work speaks for itself, as well as the fact that they are chosen by Oakley and Theault, and I would highly recommend them. They certainly charge a premium for it, so we could have spent less, but we wanted everything done to their standard.
- JM build beautiful lorries, which are justifiably bought by many of the country’s leading riders. The living area and bathroom are particularly luxurious, and the horse area is exceptionally well built, smart, and thought out. This lorry seems to attract much admiration at events we go to.
- The original JM slide-out did need rebuilding mechanically, however, to make it slide as smoothly and strongly as possible; and we also needed to upgrade some of the electrical work, and perfect the integrated appliances such as the heater and generator.
- Despite this, JM lorries really stand out as the best and most feature-laden, alongside Oakley. Just ask Harry Meade/Tim Price etc.!
If I was to commission my own, new, horse lorry, I would get JM to make the interiors, and AJ to install the inner workings and mechanisms (with me as the foreman, with my 140-line spreadsheets!). That would be the perfect lorry - and that is what we have created with this one.
If you want a top end luxury lorry, which is a pleasure to operate and stay in, on which all the time and money has already been spent, then this is the one.
Highlights of the lorry
- Easy to drive - automatic gearbox; rear air suspension; cruise control; exhaust brake; clear driver-angled CCTV of horses.
- Sleeping for 6 - raised roof over shower room and entrance; very large luton; 3 comfortable double beds.
- Beautiful exterior - the previous owner owned a printing business, so provided the amazing artwork to JM.
- Stunning interior - the classic light brown and cream glows under the extensive mood lighting.
- Spacious shower room - made particularly warm by the large radiator and fan heaters. Excellent hot water from the top-of-the-range Webasto heater.
- Very large slide-out - JM makes them unusually large, and now it operates exceptionally smoothly.
- Wide cut-through between cab and living; and we repositioned the curtain track for extra height.
- Enormous storage - cupboard space in the living is maximised; full-width under the body, fan-heated by the Webasto; multiple skirt lockers; removable heavy-duty saddle rack that can be used instead of one stall, and two normal locker saddle racks.
- Huge number of opening windows - including three large domed roof windows, making it cool on hot days.
- Top of the range electrics - Victron smart chargers, operated with the excellent Victron Connect app.
- Top of the range generator, and central/water heating - Dometic generator (petrol), and Webasto heater (diesel direct from tank); push-start operation; both run perfectly; with bespoke commissioned exhausts extending outside the body to vent fumes away from the skirts.
- Refrigeration - Dometic battery/gas/hook-up main fridge; 7-bottle drinks fridge.
- Thick tartan curtains and blinds throughout.
- JM cab seats - JM embossed and in matching cream leatherette.
- Air-con - recently replaced, very effective.
- Sumptuous horse area - 4 full height and width stalls for any size of horse; extremely thick partition pads, which are easily moved; red-light night-lights linked to the head-lights; one-piece anti-slip DEFRA rubber floor; Oakley-style head partition sight holes, which make a huge difference to the comfort and calmness of the horses; two roof vented windows, and full length opening windows on both sides.
- Excellent electric ramp - rear air suspension; ramp control buttons on both sides of the rear; shallow angle; fast and smooth; Surefoot one-piece anti-slip DEFRA rubber with integrated treads.
- Huge electric-operated retracting awning, and drop-down tent - generator or hookup operated; thick waterproof canvas.
- Cameras - horse area CCTV; reverse; Garmin dash cam.
- Rear air suspension - large range of operation up and down.
- Exceptional lighting - LED lights on the steps, under and over the pop-out, purple mood lighting; work lights around the exterior; 4 powerful front spot lights on bull bar; raised rear LED top spoiler; over 60 lights in total just on the exterior!
- Hot water to rear locker - containing long Karcher hose reel, and pressure washer.
- Full tilt cab - smooth operation.
- Large water tank - with drain outlet and overflow; regularly cleaned and maintained with Puri Sol and Aqua Sol.
