Ella is a 1.5/2 Welsh B pony and would suit a child wanting to move off a first ridden. Ella loves show jumping and cross country and is the kind of pony that takes your child into a fence. She is good with coloured poles, fillers, water trays, ditches. I have only owned her for 6 months and purchased her as a first ridden for my 5-year-old. She has ridden her on and off lead rein at various rallies but really my feeling is she would be more suited to an older child of 8-10 year with longer legs and a more stable seat and who is established cantering off lead rien. She is fine on the lead rien and has done lots of this also. She never bucks, rears or broncs. My 10-year-old ‘clicked’ with her more and has had enormous fun on her this spring/summer arena eventing, show jumping 40-70cm, xc 50/60cm, dressage and at mounted games and various rallies. She always wins a rosette. He is sadly too big for her, and I think she’d better suit a lighter weight jockey.
She is good to hack out, happy to go in front or behind and doesn’t get silly if she is overtaken. She does respect the bit and her rider. She would get excited in a large group so she is not suited to hunting. She is a very clever competition pony and loves a varied life. Equally, she can not be ridden for a few days and then be the same.
She is good to shoe, clip, dress up, load, can fidget when hosing but not if she has a haynet. She can call if left tied on her own but will always settle with a haynet. Currently lives with mares in a herd, isn’t mare like or nasty with others but does like to be the one in charge.
She is 19 and so does have some age related health needs but this is to be expected at her age and can be easily managed. Happy to discuss on viewing.
