Registered New Forest gelding, registered name is Backley Osprey.
Fun and versatile pony who will do most jobs and would be a top class M&M WHP.
Cracking pony who loves to have a job to do and has a good attitude to his work. Ozzy is working sweetly on the flat and starting to work on the bridle. He has three good paces and it won’t take much to get him dressage test or show ring ready.
Ozzy’s real love is his jumping, he’s on springs! He gives a great feel over a fence and just loves the job, he has jumped a few unaffiliated shows up to 80cm and has loads of scope to go on, he’s careful, brave and wants to leave poles up! He has been out to a couple of training shows with us and was very very good, with lots to like!
Lightly XC schooled and lots of potential, Ozzy would suit an active PC/BS or possibly eventing home and is sure to do well in whatever path his next owner chooses. Being a registered NF he has enormous potential to make a class M&M WHP or could be shown trimmed and plaited as a 143cm WHP, he has a lot to offer! Ozzy is brilliant out hacking both alone and in company, good in traffic and sensible in open spaces.
Ozzy has been with a family the last two years being started and introduced to competitive life. Teenage son who was main rider has just got in to racing school hence sad sale as Ozzy is too good to be left in the field. He’s a sweet pony on the ground but spent his first week with us being a bit of a drama queen. Once he established routine and boundaries he settled right in, he would not suit a novice family for this reason.
Like most talented ponies he has his quirks, he is fine to do most things with but not great with the farrier and was worried by clippers. He will need time and patience to sort this and price reflects this. Saying this he is not a difficult pony day to day and is handled here by everyone, ridden by riders 12yrs upwards and will take a less experienced rider safely.
I would like to see him join a competitive family where he will give lots of fun and many rosettes!
