Berry is a registered Shire mare standing at approximately 17.2hh. She is just the sweetest, kindest horse with a loving and kind temperament. She’s easy to catch, clip, bath, load & travel, and good for the farrier, with no stable vices.
Berry is only ever ridden in a snaffle. She will hack alone or in company, is good in traffic, and is totally unflappable. She is not frightened of articulated lorries, rattling trailers, motorbikes, push bikes, walkers, dogs, paper bags or scary flapping pheasants. She is also ok and very used to farm machinery & livestock.
Loves going down the pub and meeting new friends (especially if they happen to have some treats!!) standing quietly while you have a pint (or two) and will stand patiently while you try to get back on!
She will happily turn out in a herd or alone. She just settles right in and minds her own.
She has very good basic flatwork, with good upward and downward transitions, and is not at all a struggle to ride. Kick to go & pull to stop type ride. She loves having a jump and will take you to a fence and get you safely over the other side. When taken cross-country schooling, she happily popped around everything: ditches, water, timber, and small hedges.
We took her on a fun ride in April with the Staff College Drag Hounds, happily plodding along in her little snaffle on the end of the buckle with a novice lady rider. She was happy in a large group and, at no point, did she get silly or strong; she even jumped some of the bigger timber fences around Barossa.
Berry would be an asset to any mounted police force, RDA centre, riding school, or a lovely all-rounder family share. She really is a genuine confidence giver.
