A talented, proven young horse with an exciting future.
“Loriot” (known at home as Logan) is a striking 6-year-old Warmblood gelding with the talent, pedigree and attitude to progress through the ranks. Produced correctly and carefully, he is already proving himself as an exciting prospect for both age classes and open competition.
Logan is by Light My Fire, winner of the 2024 Canadian Hunter Derby Championships, and we believe he also has all the attributes to excel in the American Hunter ring. He combines exceptional movement, an attractive and correct conformation, a compact frame, beautiful head and shoulder, and an excellent topline.
The sire of Light My Fore is the 1.60m Grand Prix jumper Light On, while his dam is by Zacharov, bringing together some of the sport’s most influential bloodlines, including Clinton, Corrado I, Lord Z and Voltaire.
Competition Highlights
- Jumping consistent double clears at Foxhunter level.
- Qualified Newcomers for 2027.
- Requires just two further Foxhunter double clears to secure his 2027 Foxhunter qualification.
- Qualified for the 2026 National Discovery Championship Final, earning his place with three superb clear rounds in the Regional Final at Pyecombe, where he finished 3rd in a large, quality field.
- Qualified for the 2026 95cm and 1.05m Championship Finals.
Most recently, Logan competed at the prestigious Hickstead Derby Meeting, where he took everything in his stride. Across four classes he:
- Jumped double clear to finish 2nd and 7th in classes of over 100 starters.
- Jumped an excellent first Foxhunter on grass in Ring 2, finishing on just four faults.
- Had only a single fence in the jump-off in his remaining class.
A hugely encouraging first visit to Hickstead and a real indication of the quality and potential this horse possesses.
The Horse
Logan works in a lovely, balanced rhythm with three quality paces, an expressive canter and a careful, scopey technique over a fence. He is naturally athletic and gives every indication that he has the ability to develop into a 1.40m horse with continued production.
He has also been schooled cross-country, where he proved bold, brave and genuine, making him an exciting prospect for eventing should a new owner wish to explore that route.
Logan has plenty of personality and can occasionally be cheeky, so he would not be best suited to a novice or inexperienced amateur. He deserves a knowledgeable rider who will continue his education and fulfil the considerable potential he has shown.
This is a very genuine and extremely sad sale of a much-loved horse who has been in the same home for over three years.
