Janet is an exceptionally talented, genuine mare with scope, quality and a fantastic attitude towards her work. She combines the ability to be seriously competitive with the temperament and rideability that make her an absolute pleasure to have around.
Janet is by the very popular Dignified Van'T Zorgvliet out of a Chacoa mare, with her full breeding recorded.
Her pedigree combines some seriously impressive European performance blood. Dignified Van'T Zorgvliet is by the legendary Clinton, while Chacoa brings in the hugely influential Contender and Landgraf I lines.
Both sides of her parents have produced successful competition horses, including horses competing at **international showjumping and upper-level eventing.
Janet certainly has inherited the right attributes from her pedigree – she is naturally athletic, incredibly scopey, careful and brave, with a genuine desire to do her job.
We purchased Janet direct from her breeder in late 2023 with the intention of producing a quality competition horse and have taken a patient approach with her ever since.
In truth, we have been saving Janet because we have always believed she is exceptionally talented and worth taking our time with. She has never been rushed or over-produced and has been allowed plenty of time to grow, mature and develop correctly.
The only reason she hasn't been out competing as much as a mare of her ability deserves is simply lack of time on our part. She has always been one we wanted to keep progressing ourselves because we rate her so highly, but unfortunately we just haven't managed to get her to the number of shows she deserves.
She is fit, fully vaccinated and ready to go, and we feel the time has come for someone to take her on, get her out regularly and really fulfil the potential we have always believed she has.
Showjumping is where Janet really comes alive. She absolutely loves her jumping and has bags of natural ability.
She is scopey, bold and careful, takes you confidently to a fence and genuinely enjoys her job. She has jumped numerous beautiful clear rounds around 90cm–1m and makes it all feel incredibly easy.
There is plenty more in the tank. She has the scope and technique to progress considerably further and I could easily see her making a serious pure showjumper, while she equally has everything required to continue up the levels eventing.
She isn't just talented – she has a fantastic work ethic and genuinely wants to work with her rider. She's brave without being reckless and has a lovely natural instinct over a fence.
On the flat, Janet is forward, responsive and increasingly established in her work.
She works in a lovely rhythm, is balanced and trainable and has developed a good understanding of her lateral work. She is capable of producing a smart, accurate test and continues to improve as her strength and education develop.
Janet is also a horse you can genuinely enjoy outside the arena.
She hacks brilliantly alone or in company and is exceptionally good in traffic. We are based on a busy country road, so she is accustomed to tractors, wagons and fast-moving vehicles.
She isn't nappy or clingy and is perfectly happy leaving other horses and getting on with her own job.
Her temperament on the yard is equally good. She isn't marish and is happy living in or out with mares or geldings.
She loads straight onto a wagon or trailer, travels well and is accustomed to standing on the box by herself at shows while other horses are being ridden.
She is good to clip including her legs, brilliant for the farrier and stands perfectly for the dentist. She has no stable vices and is fully vaccinated and up to date, ready to get straight out competing.
A Very Exciting Horse for the Future
Janet has the ability to suit a competitive amateur, ambitious junior or professional rider.
What makes her particularly special is that underneath all that ability is a genuinely kind mare with a fantastic work ethic. She has been given the foundations correctly rather than rushed for quick results, and we genuinely feel the best of Janet is still to come.
She is the sort of horse who gets noticed wherever she goes and regularly has people asking about her.
For somebody wanting a horse to get out competing now and produce through the levels, she is an incredibly exciting prospect.
She is open to vetting, blemish and vice free. She was X-rayed shortly after we purchased her and those X-rays were good.
We would absolutely love to stay in touch with her new owners and follow her progress. She has been a very special mare for us to produce, and we genuinely believe that with someone who has the time to get her out regularly, she has a very exciting future ahead of her.
