Jack is looking for a kind, knowledgeable 1-to-1 home where he can have the time, love and TLC he deserves.
He was previously driven and can occasionally be nervous on the ground and when mounting. He is never silly or dangerous with it and gets over himself very quickly. He simply needs someone confident and experienced who will ignore the fuss, get on with the job and not make an issue of it. For this reason, absolutely no nervous novices. Although he is a very safe horse, he is not suitable for someone who will worry when he has a nervous moment.
Once you’re on, he is a very safe and forgiving ride. He isn’t bothered by his rider flapping around and isn’t going to deck you if you lose a stirrup, become unbalanced or end up halfway up his neck after a jump! He really is the sort who will look after you rather than take advantage.
Since being with us, Jack has learnt to jump and has discovered that he absolutely loves cross-country. He will happily pop a small course of show jumps and will trot and canter around the school nicely.
He is bombproof to hack and excellent in traffic, and is equally happy hacking alone or in company. He has spent the summer doing beach rides with customers and has also started going out on hound exercise, which he has taken to really well.
We think he could make someone a super hunter. He is a proper leg-in-each-corner type – sturdy, sure-footed and sensible.
Jack can initially get nervous when the clippers are switched on, but we simply ignore the reaction and get on with clipping him, and he settles.
He loads and travels well.
Jack isn’t a finished, polished horse and we’re not pretending that he is. What he needs is his own person – someone with a bit of experience, patience and time who will give him confidence without mollycoddling him. In the right home, with consistency and affection, we think he will develop into a really lovely horse and give someone a huge amount of fun. He loves a groom and a scratch and is very affectionate.
