- Traditional Irish Type – Plenty of Substance & Quality
Rocko is a super, heavier-set Irish gelding with a lovely temperament and a really willing attitude towards his work. He is the sort that is increasingly hard to find – a proper traditional type with plenty of substance, a sensible head and a very exciting future ahead of him.
Rocko was imported from Ireland as a 3-year-old at the beginning of last year, having been lightly backed in October. Rather than rushing him, he was then turned away and given the winter to mature before being brought back into work in April. He has been steadily produced since and has taken everything asked of him in his stride.
Lovely to Ride
For a 4-year-old, Rocko is riding away really nicely. He schools well on the flat, works in a nice contact and has a very willing attitude towards learning.
He does everything in a snaffle and gives his rider a lovely straightforward feel. He is still a young horse with plenty more to learn, but has a really good foundation for somebody to continue producing.
We feel Rocko would be ideally suited to a BHS Stage 2 standard rider or above who can continue his education and enjoy producing a quality young horse.
Exciting Jumping Prospect
Rocko has only recently started his jumping education but has taken to it exceptionally well.
He is willing and genuine, really seems to enjoy his jumping and is showing plenty of natural ability. He is improving every time and has been very straightforward about everything we’ve introduced him to so far.
We haven’t rushed him or over-jumped him – he’s been allowed to learn at his own pace – but what he has shown us already makes us very excited about his future.
Been Out & Seen the World
Rocko has also been shown in hand, where he behaved beautifully and took the whole experience in his stride. The atmosphere, other horses and everything going on around him didn’t faze him, which is another great reflection of his sensible and willing temperament.
Super to Hack
Rocko hacks alone and in company and has been out and seen traffic.
He is sensible and level-headed and is gaining more experience every time he goes out. He is happy to leave the yard without another horse and equally enjoys hacking in company. He hacks over all types of terrain with no problems at all and takes everything in his stride.
A Lovely Young Horse for the Future
What we particularly like about Rocko is his attitude. He is a genuine young horse who wants to learn and tries to do what is asked of him.
At 15.1hh with plenty of substance, he is a lovely traditional type who could go on to make a cracking riding club horse, hunter, allrounder or grassroots prospect.
He hasn’t been rushed or overproduced and is now at the perfect stage for somebody to continue his education and put their own stamp on him.
A really likeable young horse with a great foundation and bags of potential for the future.
Snaffle mouthed. Open to any vetting.
