Smokey Joe is a lovely natured 3 year old Irish Cob gelding with a bright future ahead of him. Currently standing at 15.1hh with plenty of maturing and filling out left to do, he should develop into a super substantial and versatile cob. I expect he will mature to 15.2-15.3hh.
He has been given a kind, quiet start to his education and has been backed and ridden away, lightly hacking around our country lanes both alone and in company. He has seen traffic and farm machinery and has proved sensible for his age.
Smokey is a responsive ride with a nice attitude to his work. He is snaffle mouthed and has the makings of a lovely all rounder for someone to continue producing. He has seen dogs, sheep, cows and donkeys.
He is a pleasure to have around the yard, good to catch and happy to stand patiently tied up. He gets on well with other horses and turns out happily in a mixed herd. He is good for the farrier (currently barefoot) and stands to be groomed and fussed over. He loads well onto both a trailer and a horsebox.
Smokey has had a positive introduction to ridden life and hasn’t been over produced, he is very much a youngster who still needs time to mature physically and mentally. Ideally he would benefit from some time to grow and develop over the winter before continuing his education as a four year old.
He would suit someone experienced looking for a quality young cob to bring on, build a partnership with and put their own stamp on. He has a kind nature and willing attitude, and will make someone a lovely allrounder in the future.
Smokey is offered as a promising youngster who has been lightly started, ready for someone experienced to continue his education. He would not suit a novice or nervous rider at this stage as he is still learning.
He is up to date with the farrier, dentist and worming.
