Irish Sports Horse, Bay, Gelding, 5 years, 15.2 hands
Tabasco van Erpekom
Tarco is a 15.2 hand 5 year old gelding. Superbly well bred Irish Sport Horse, perfect for top class eventing with the ideal combination of Dutch Warmblood and Irish Thoroughbred. His stallion is Tabasco van Erpekom and Grand Sire is the world famous DARCO. Tarco's registered name is Killernan Alco, he's on a green Irish passport and his half brother is the successful eventer Fernhill Tabasco
I bought Tarco as a project and have really enjoyed bringing him on to his current level where he is showing superb potential but as I am not allowed to compete (I'm disabled) I am now looking for a 5* competition home for him who will continue the work I have started whilst giving him the time and love he deserves to develop further at his own pace
DRESSAGE: he's not only super looking but has naturally impressive paces. Dressage is not my thing however after just one training session on him, my friend entered an Intro C competition coming 1st and a Prelim 7 test coming 2nd with scores just short of 70% - and that was on his first ever outing out of my yard too. Both tests are on my YouTube channel so you can see for yourself how good he can be yet also see what areas he needs to work on. He is now ready to attend more dressage competitions this summer
SHOW JUMPING: again a natural like his stallion Tabasco van Erpekom. He makes a lovely shape over a fence, very neat, tidy and careful with bags of scope. I have schooled him over jumps and grids at home both on the lunge and under saddle where he has shown his potential and significant scope. Away from home I have attended Riding Club training events at Keysoe EC and Glebe Farm EC over full SJ courses successfully as seen on his YouTube video. He is now ready to go to further training events and local competitions to further his education and experience
X COUNTRY: WOW! One word is all I need, he's that good. His YouTube video shows his first ever X Country training session starting right from small logs through to good sized hedges and roll top fences all in a first session. He was also introduced to water and steps proving a willing learner, a totally genuine horse who is eager to please, learn and obviously loved the experience. He was happy to take you into a fence at whatever pace you wanted and did not prove at all strong in a snaffle even when following another horse. He is now ready for more X country training and I would certainly enter him into a pairs hunter trial this year without any hesitation
AT HOME: Tarco has no stable vices, sarcoids, lumps etc. He has never bucked or reared and is nothing short of a true gent. He is wonderful around children (my boys aged 10 & 11 easily handle him) and dogs (I suspect he has hunted he is that comfortable around them), good to catch, load, travel and with the farrier. He is excellent in traffic having seen all sorts on our busy road and enjoys hacking - whilst I hack him on my own he will have the odd spook at things (like scary pigeons or people jumping out at him), he is better in company as he is only 5 years old and gains extra confidence with another horse so would recommend hacking in company to his new owner. I have also taken him to fun rides and to numerous friends' houses to hack out in new areas with new horses to further his life experiences with no problems whatsoever, we had great fun!
He has obviously had his ears twitched in the past and can be a little shy when putting the reins over his head as shown on his YouTube video but is happy with the rest of the bridle. I always ride him in a snaffle for all disciplines with no problems, he's not strong. He stands perfectly at the mounting block, handy given I'm disabled and get on the incorrect side although can be a little sensitive on his side so I do mount him gently without booting him in the ribs - again as shown in his video. Having said all of these great things about him, he is not suitable for novices. He is only 5 and needs handling sensitively and given time to develop at his own pace which only someone with experience will understand
Open to vets and trainers
Price: £4,500 ONO, home is more important to me. A real bargain for a super horse as its now time I got my hunters back into work!
