Looking for 15.2hh plus medium or heavyweight mare or gelding

Ref #: 281435
Looking for a 15.2hh plus medium or heavyweight mare or gelding.

Ideal age between 6-10 or alternatively would consider younger (4 years upwards) if it’s an old head on young shoulders type and will be easy to bring on.

Must be good to hack alone and in company and have done both regularly. Not spooky or overly sensitive or reactive, however not expecting a machine so the odd look at something is fine. Must be good in all traffic.

Not looking for anything that needs a competitive lifestyle - just a nice all round horse that’s looking for an experienced loving home. Will be used for hacking, fun rides, flatwork and pole clinics primarily.

Must be good to shoe, load etc and no vices. Must be open to vetting and if a private sale would appreciate disclosure of veterinary history.

Four figure budget. Would also consider long term loan or LWVTB.

Based South West but prepared to travel within reason (UK only).

Please get in touch via the message button initially, if you have anything that might be suitable (or close to it!). Sorry no TB's, only because I am too heavy for them.

Lily is an absolutely fantastic sweet horse who I have owned for over 10 years, and I am very sadly having to sell because I no longer have time to ride her. She was ridden in dressage (up to Medium), did show jumping and eventing in her younger years.

She has no lameness issues, but had a health issue about 6 years ago (guttural pouch mycosis) which means she can no longer do super high-intensity work (i.e. no competing). She is fully recovered from this apart from not being able to sustain a heavy work for long periods of time.

Currently, she is turned out most of the year with young stock, and is very sociable with other horses. She has not been ridden for the last 4 months, but has been in and out of light work over the last few years. She is fine to ride out of the field as long as her workload is gradually increased over the course of a month or so to get her fitness up.

Lily would be a great horse for someone who would like to increase their riding ability with a sweet, safe, and responsive older horse, and/or who would like to go out and do some hacking (she prefers to be hacked with other horses, but it otherwise very good hacker). She would also be happy to be a companion, or a horse used for groundwork in equine therapy .

My main concern is getting Lily to the right home that will be able to give her high quality care year-round. As a thoroughbred, she does need hard feed to supplement her grazing/hay, and she needs rugs in the winter etc, and so cannot simply be left in a field.

We are looking for a first pony for my granddaughter to learn the ropes on and have lots of fun with. We are ideally looking for a pony that we can take hacking. We keep our ponies on a lovely quiet DIY yard with lots of off road hacking and all year turnout( our own field with our other 2 mares).

We are open to any age or type but the pony needs to be good on the ground and enjoy being fussed/ brushed. We don't mind a pony that needs a little extra care but strictly no laminitis or ponies that need to stand in all summer, we like ponies to be ponies and spend time out grazing during winter and summer.

Happy to be in regular contact with owner and for visits anytime.

Stunningly beautiful 8 year old TB. Incredibly well bred. Grandfathers Gallileo and Danehill. Registered with Weatherbys as a brood mare. She has bred one strong and healthy TB foal now aged 2.

Please note: we are not selling this horse as a riding horse. She has been ridden but is not a novice ride and not being sold ridden. Needs to be kept with other horses. She injured her bursa joint 2 years ago and we spent £11,000 at Rossdale's in Newmarket on her. It is completely healed and she seems sound but we are not selling her with any warranty hence the price. She is a loved horse and we want her to have a good home. She needs an experienced home and cannot be kept alone or stabled. She will box walk and get very upset if alone.

With other horses, she is quiet and not difficult. Loads, shoes, rugs well - does not bite, , kick or buck . Just is a highly strung TB if in the wrong conditions.

If with others is a 'donkey' who wanders around the garden - see photo having a picnic with us.

Genuine advert -11.3hh unregistered Welsh A Mare. Rosie was bought as a first ridden for my then 6 year old daughter but she has proven too green for us. She has a lovely temperament, is easy to handle in the stable and always easy to catch.

We had a 5 stage vetting when we bought her and she has had no health issues. She’s proven good as gold for farrier, vet and dentist. She is very low maintenance, happy to live in or out, has settled in a variety of mixed herds (big and small), lives on fresh air but also her weight has been manageable (not too fat and cresty!!)

Whilst she has proven too much for my small and anxious daughter I have come to the conclusion that she needs more than just a more gutsy rider so I am not looking to sell her directly on as a child’s pony as she needs someone with genuine time and experience to restart her. Whilst I have a horsey background and thought a bit of groundwork would help I work full time and just don’t have the time to put consistent work into her. She has been turned away for 6 months and not had anyone on her back for this time so very much needs to start from scratch.

Or similarly, she is so easy to do and lived out so happily this winter she would make a lovely companion pony/field ornament!!!

She has popped a course, been ridden on and off lead and we have been to a show so she has potential! Some days she is good as gold but other days she can be spooky and jumpy. She’s never been great on the lunge but longline’s beautifully. I haven’t done this poor pony justice and whilst she seems to be loving life turned away I’d love her to have more attention or a chance of achieving her potential. She’s pretty feral after 6 months turned away so I don’t think she’ll be quick and easy to turn around so please bear this in mind if enquiring.
