Due to rider owner giving up we are sadly selling our first homebred. Spider is exceptionally well bred to make a top class event horse, with over 70% TB.

Her Dam Abigail previously had a successful show jumping career before she started eventing, with winnings over £1,000 inc qualifying for the Winter Novice final at Hickstead (with a 14 year jockey). She is bred in the purple with Voltaire, Quidam De Revel & Furioso lines. She started eventing as a 8 yr old and had 9 wins in her first 2 seasons barely finishing out of the top 10, inc her first International win in the CCI* JRN Championship. Abigail then went on to finish 2nd in her first CIC** and represent GBR at Junior Europeans.

Her Sire, Templar Spirit is by the legendary Hand in Glove who was bred in the USA where he raced on the flat as a 2 year old, he then successfully competed in dressage winning at Prix St Georges level. At 9 he switched career again and started show jumping and within 3 seasons he reached Grand Prix level inc coming 7th at a World Cup Qualifier. He then stood at stud in France and sired many successful show jumpers and event horses inc Jaguar Mail (Olympic show jumping stallion). Templar Spirit's dam is by Primitive Rising who needs no introduction and his Dam herself finished 10th at the World 7 year old Championship.

Spider is broken in and riding very maturely, she is established in all 3 paces and jumping confidently, inc fillers, water trays, skinnies etc. She is proving to be very bold, straight forward and willing.

Ready to start competing and to be aimed for BYEH classes and Osberton 4 year old qualifiers.

Handsome, upstanding 16.3hh rising 5yo (2012) Irish Sport Horse gelding. A super traditional middleweight type with enough bone to be solid combined with amazing talent and temperament.

Breeding:
Sired by ‘Jack of Diamonds’ who has a famous old Irish pedigree, being by the legendary sire, ‘Irco Mena’, the leading sire of showjumpers in Sweden. His dam is by the world famous international showjumper ‘Cruising’. His grand-dam was a successful 1.50m competitor in her own right. As well as his dam, she produced 2 other offspring by Cruising – one competes at 1.40m and the other competes at 1.60m.

Flatwork:
Working well on the flat, he is a lovely comfortable ride with expressive paces and really catches the eye with his ‘look at me’ presence. Naturally very balanced, with simple lead changes established. Neither sharp nor lazy, just nicely responsive to the aids. With further education, he will produce a smart test.

Show jumping:
As his family tree suggests, he is well related to many top jumpers and he’s proving he has inherited their talent. He is easy and level to a fence, showing that he is both careful and brave with masses of scope to go through the grades. In the ring, he has experienced combinations, water trays and numerous fillers, never questioning what he is asked of him. He is very genuine and forgiving, supporting his rider where necessary. Recently registered BS, he already has 2 double clears in British Novice and has qualified for Scope in the Graham Heath Equine Debut Novice Championship.

Cross country:
As well as popping natural obstacles during hacks, he has schooled XC fences at an arena eventing hire and also around a BE standard course. He has proven to be bold, brave and clever. He is very willing and cruised round all of the obstacles effortlessly, tackling ditches, drops and water without hesitation, even in the boggy / slippy ground. He has a fantastic ground covering stride and gives the most fantastic feeling. He is a serious prospect for someone looking to produce a horse for Jumping or Eventing.

Character:
He is well behaved when hacking out, both alone and in company, going through the woods, across open fields and is unfazed by any traffic. He is a lovely person to be around, one of the easiest horses to have on the yard and is very sweet to deal with. Can be clipped alone, he is good for the farrier, lives in or out, loads in a trailer or lorry and he’s not the type that needs to be ridden every day.

He is a truly lovely lad who ticks so many boxes – it is rare to find so many attributes in one horse. He has come from his breeder in Ireland who broke him and he has been properly produced to date – this shows through his ‘can do’ attitude. An old head on young shoulders, he is sensible and learns quickly and there are no dodges or quirks with this boy – he only wants to please. Even with such massive potential, he is civil enough to be produced by an amateur. Admired wherever he goes, attracting lovely compliments.

Vice-free and open to any vetting. Click the video link to see him doing all activities. Very sadly offered for sale through no fault of his own. An experienced, loving home is very important…we would love to follow his progress. No timewasters – genuine / serious enquiries only please.
