Benjy is a 12.2hh grey welsh gelding, a chunky chap who is 15 years old. We have had the pleasure of owning for the past 4 years and he has been a fantastic confidence giver to my 2 daughters but unfortunately he has now been outgrown and needs to find a new family to love him as we have. He is a total superstar and excels at everything he does. We have done a bit of everything with him and there seems to be nothing that he can’t do! Speeds up or slows down depending on the ability of his rider.

My daughters are both active members of the pony club and he has attended numerous rallies and both junior and senior camp (where he was the smallest by a long way but kept up brilliantly!) I have lost count of the number of times instructors have said he is worth his weight in gold or called him a total superstar as he always behaves impeccably regardless of what he’s doing.

We have done lots of show jumping at local level and NSEA and he rarely comes home without a rosette. He can be quick against the clock and can turn on a sixpence however he will also happily steadily canter around depending on what speed you ask for. He enjoys jumping and has competed up to 80cm with us although has schooled bigger at home. He will also gently trot over cross poles and progress riders up through the levels as he has done for both my girls. He was also part of the winning 70cm team in a recent inter pony club event with too many other wins to mention.

He is absolutely amazing cross country, he loves it and jumps anything. I can’t remember a time when he has come back with anything other than a clear round and a beaming child on board! He has been around spooky mini courses complete with bright mushrooms and bright pink pigs and up to height 80cm at Bicton competing against much bigger ponies and horses. He is not bothered by water, ditches, skinnies etc he just jumps whatever he is asked. He keeps a nice rhythm without getting strong. He has won our pony club hunter trial cup 3 years in a row.

He loves mounted games and again will either speed up or slow down as asked but for someone confident he can really move and is a whizz at bending. He isn’t fazed by flags or being handed things and is used to being vaulted onto. He has competed at the pony club area games but sadly our pony club only ever did this once so he hasn’t really had the chance to shine as he should in this area. That said he did win the gymkhana cup at a local show the only time we went.

He produces a fair dressage test when needed and has got some good results at one day events and is usually placed. He has won at local ‘D’ days and is very consistent. We have not really competed purely in dressage as it’s not what my daughters are interested in but on the few occasions they have they have done ok.

He is a super hunting pony, again something he really enjoys. Living on the edge of Dartmoor he will cross any country, is good in open spaces and will keep going all day. He is regularly ridden on the moor and I never worry that my children will come back other than safe. He has also been on beach rides in large and small groups and always behaves beautifully.

He has absolutely no vices, is good to catch, shoe, box (lorry or trailer), clip and with vet. He is a gentle soul to have around and can be looked after completely by my children, a really easy chap to have around. He has never kicked, bucked, bolted or reared. We keep him at a busy livery yard but he would be equally as happy at a quieter yard and really isn’t fussed about being on his own. He is not nappy in any way. He will live in or out.

He isn’t a kick along as he enjoys his work but always stops when asks and is a totally genuine pony. Up to date with teeth, vacs, worming etc. He is a great 1st or 2nd pony and a good home is our absolute priority for him.

We will miss him dreadfully and would like references from his new home please and to stay in touch. Lots of photos and videos available on request.
