  • Looking for 12hh first pony to loan or buy
  • Needs to be kind, genuine and quiet
  • Needs to be well-behaved on and off the lead rein

We are looking for a gentle, quiet and kind first pony preferably a mare to loan. She needs to be well-behaved on and off the lead rein and safe and reliable in traffic and around farm machinery and cattle. She will be ridden by a 7 year old who will soon be coming off the lead rein and a 9 year old who is off the lead rein but needs a trustworthy pony to learn to jump on. She needs to like children and be happy being cuddled and groomed by them. We enjoy going to shows so she also needs to be happy loading and travelling and being dressed up for fancy dress!

We are well set up for small ponies with provision for managing restricted grazing and she will have another mare for company. We are a knowledgeable and committed home, used to dealing with the needs of small ponies and would be very happy to provide references if needs be.

We live between Bath and Bristol and are happy to travel up to a couple of hours to see the right pony.

Rosie has been a wonderful addition to our family for the last two years but is now sadly outgrown. She has taught both my girls age 7 and 9 to ride and furthered the experience of their more able friend.

She is a typical kick along pony who will do as much as asked but no more.

With beginners she will trundle around the school at an easy trot and, canter when asked properly. With more experienced riders she is a lot fun and will happily jump a clear round.

We've had great fun over the last two summers, out at local shows doing family pony, best rider and clear round jumping. With her previous owners in Ireland she was a real Pony Club pony, doing rallies and XC too.

My eldest daughter came off the lead rein last year and Rosie happily tucked behind my horse out hacking, giving her rider lots of confidence in walk trot and canter.

She is a dream in traffic - we live near the A21 - unfazed by it all, buses, roadworks, lorries. Walks straight in a trailer and box, good to catch shoe etc, lives in or out. Likes the grass. Never had laminitis but have always been very careful with her weight so would recommend restricted grazing if you have lots of grass.

Genuine enquiries only please, good home for this lovely girl is our priority.

Quentin 11hh of cuddly Irish bog trotter. He is chestnut and white when scrubbed up but prefers to camo himself up with mud. He's a fat lad, back like a table top and four chunky little legs.

He has been used as a first pony and is happy to be turned into a unicorn and have his feet painted sparkly without any fuss. Even when the child is in full on paddy mode, red faced screaming, Quentin still remains composed. He happily hacks out being led from another horse and will pootle along without depositing his little person into the nearest hedgerow.

Quentin is a naturally steady pony but if he has a more competent rider he is easily encouraged to trot, canter and jump. He's a four wheel drive model happily goes over all terrain and will live in or out. No laminitis or sweet itch and is usually good to catch unless your name is James who he leads a merry dance just to be awkward.

Quentin is only for sale as we have no small riders and its important that he goes to a kind knowledgeable home. He has only ever been ridden by novice riders and they have all survived. No kicking or biting from this lad, we think he's an exceptional little pony sadly wasted with us.
