A real fun cheeky registered Fell pony, 14hh black gelding.

Has been successfully shown this season in both in hand and ridden classes and has started jumping at home which he thoroughly enjoys, as well as loving his hacking and popping logs in the woods.

He is a forward going pony who can jig jog out hacking but is not a rearer / spinner etc, is good in traffic, hacks alone or in company, open space / woods / roads, just a very happy loving pony who is looking for a fun and varied life, I would love to see him go on and be loved for who he is and have fun, he would do riding club and with schooling would make a good M+M WHP as he is bold and makes a good shape over a fence but hasnt done much proper jumping.

Very easy to handle both in and out the stable, good to catch in the field, loads and travels on a trailer or lorry, can be left on his own all day on the lorry, good with the farrier (unshod so just trimmed) loves to be pampered and groomed, really affectionate pony.

Clean limbs, no lumps or bumps, up to date with teeth / vaccinations.

Only for sale due to owners ill health who wont be able to ride again.

Open to vet.

Thurso is a beautiful black Fell pony. Sold on behalf of her owner who bought her directly from her breeder last year.

She's been with me for a few months now, initially to produce as a laid-back-whilst-not-being-dull hack for her owner after being backed and turned away for a year in her previous home. She has come on immensely, but we all feel that her talents lie in more than just hacking once or twice a week! She has a wonderful Fell pony personality and has so much to offer.

Thurso won in hand at Equifest as a 3yo and is unshown since then, but she went out to one unaffiliated dressage competition earlier this year and came 4th, going straight from the trailer to the test as a farrier appointment for another horse had left us short of time. Her behaviour was super to get ready and in the ring, but she did get upset standing in the trailer when her travelling companion (who'd needed the shoe!) left, so she was held outside around the ring perfectly happily instead. Normally I'd take two first-timers out separately anyway though. (Her schooling has improved immensely since then and I have no doubt she'll do a super dressage test now, just my other commitments haven't allowed for this.)

Thurso is at the stage where she will walk, trot and canter on both reins in a large field on a slope in good balance and rhythm, working softly to a contact in a Myler snaffle. She will open up the canter well - it's a question of allowing her out rather than pushing her on, she has a good amount of activity when it's requested - and come back sweetly. She understands rein back and the basic lateral steps in walk - leg yield, walk pirouttes, shoulder in and we've previously introduced quarters in too. She has super natural paces, and she is just at the point where she can start to maintain her balance properly when you allow her to go more forward - previously it was easy to flash her around looking flouncy but the throughness and balance was missing.

She has jumped 3 times on the lunge showing good scope - building up to a single jump of 2'9-3' the first two times, and a series of 3 bounces at 2' the last time to encourage her to think and use her back in the canter.

Thurso has proved good to hack - she's become blase about tractors, dustbin lorries and has been good with all other traffic met, she's seen two horses with traps who then trotted away from her and she kept listening to me, and she has listened to me in all situations bar one where there's a big scary dog on a narrow stretch of the lane who runs up and down the fence which she found a bit overwhelming. She was fine in hand past him though.

Thurso has lived in and out in the time I've known her (she's been out 24/7 since December though) and lives happily in a herd. She's good to load, shoe, wash, trim, cuddle, you name it! She loves attention. She's not been clipped to my knowledge though.

She would be an exciting prospect for someone in my opinion, and I'm told by many who are 'in the know' about Fells that she has 'very nice' breeding!

**BEWARE**

BOGUS EMAILS & BUYERS!

Ref #: 22412

Increasing numbers of internet advertisers are receiving emails from bogus buyers, attempting to scam sellers

This tactic is a worldwide problem; however it would appear to be on the rise in the equine industry, targeting everything from horses and ponies for sale, to horseboxes, trailers and tack

**EXAMPLE SCAM ALERT**

We've been informed of a new email scam doing the rounds. This time the scam email in commonly coming from ‘Travis Bennett’ & 'Cynthia PT', asking a list of questions & offering to transfer a deposit and payment for shipping. Please ignore this email and if you have time report it to Action Fraud, for more details click HERE

In another instance the scammer will contact you via email asking if your horse is still for sale, this will be followed by an email containing 23 questions as shown on the picture on the left. Please do not respond to this email. Sorry for any inconvenience caused and rest assured we are doing our best to combat this.

Another scam which is particularly common, is  when theadvertiser is contacted about an item, asking for more images, and then once the images have been received the bogus buyer will agree to send a cheque for the full amount.  At this point the seller is asked to email their full contact details to enable the buyer to send payment. The seller is then contacted again saying that the cost of shipping has accidently been included on the cheque, and could the seller forward the cost of shipment onto a courier, which is also bogus

These scams can vary, however emails are often written in broken English and written in an over friendly style.  We urge HorseQuest customers to respond to email enquiries with caution. If something sounds too good to be true, it often is!

If you think you’ve been scammed then we strongly recommend that you contact the police
