Bertie is a friendly colt with a kind nature passed on through both Sire and Dam. He will mature around 16.2, is a strong compact foal, has expressive movement, great hind leg action, super length of rein with a charming head. Bertie will be ideal for young horse classes in the future as well as being able to show in hand, in sports horse classes as a yearling through to a 3 year old before his ridden career.
Bertie's sire Brennus B is owned and trained by International Dressage rider Johanne Dykes and was purchased by her from Equine Elite in 2010 as a 4 year old. He has a truly wonderful temperament, one of the best I have seen in a stallion, which he passes on to his progeny. Brennus has an amazing trainable attitude to his work proven by his results on the 2011 Sunshine Tour in 5 year old classes, finishing 2nd in the Final. On his first UK outing he scored 82% winning and qualifying for shearwater finals. He entered the 6 year old qualifying class at Hickstead and won it with 80%. Bren then was invited to the viewing class for the 2nd year running to attend the Breeding Championships in Verden. Brennus B is a stallion of outstanding quality, great conformation, amazing movement, top proven pedigree, accompanied by his trainable attitude and super temperament.
Brennus's sire is the famous Grand Prix stallion Diamond Hit. He himself has many wins at Grand Prix, represented his country and qualified for the Olympic games in 2008. Diamond Hit has sired over 30 approved stallion sons, premium award winning daughters and a huge list of proven competition progeny. His dam Reine B (by Rubinstein) is also an international Grand Prix mare that was trained and competed from Novice to Grand Prix by Lotje Schoots. The combination have represented their country winning many European Championships together. Reine B is now leased to Lotje's student, Dutch FEI pony rider Mercedes Verweij. Brennus B is Reine B's first embryo transfer foal along side siblings by stallions such as Totilas, Jazz, Sunny Boy and Valeron.
Bertie's dam Florestamber is a direct daughter of the famous Florestan 1 (currently 3rd on the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses Sire Rankings) out of a Samber mare, was also trained and produced by rider Johanne Dykes. She purchased her direct from the breeder as a 3 year old, backed and produced her from Novice to PSG. Florestamber won best potential dressage horse MARE at just 4 years old. The combination had many successes thereafter but their biggest achievement was the Sunshine Tour in 2008. Florestamber qualified for the final kur owners classes and came 9th overall. Johanne said that she never stopped giving and trying, a mare also with a huge trainable attitude and big heart, with the sweetest of temperaments. On their return they qualified for the Nivarna Spa young PSG horse. Florestamber has since produced her first foal in 2011 by Jazz, Glorestan Jazz, who gained a Higher First Premium just missing out on an Elite with 8.96. He finished 5th out of 56, 3 year old Dressage horses that was presented in the 2014 BEF Futurity. Glorestan Jazz has now been selected to be sold at the 2015 Equine Elite Auction held on 31st October, he can be seen on their website. Diamond Rock and Myspires Brenstan Hit now 2 and 1 both received Higher First Premiums through the BEF also.
Fideramber by Fidermark, uncle to Bertie is out of the same dam as Florestamber. He was also purchased at the same time as his sister by Johanne, direct from the stud in Holland as a 2 year old. She trained him until he was 7, then trainer Sarah Millis continued and competed him in the 2008 Sunshine small Tour. He was sold in the 2008 Equine Elite Auction after and has been competed by Daniel Watson at National and International Grand Prix for Great Britain. Together they achieved best British horse at Rotterdam Nations Cup 2014 scoring 70.56%. This is one of many successes over the 4 seasons they have had together. Fideramber was one of the reserve horses on the British Team for the 2014 World Equestrian Games. He is now currently for sale on euro dressage for £300,000 – £350,000!
As you can see from all of the above, Bertie is a very exciting prospect for any enthusiastic, competitive rider, with a huge background of proven parents, grandparents, siblings and many other relations. He has a Top Class pedigree and is one to have for a future either in, dressage or even as an eventer or showjumper with the blood of Samber being present and the scope shown by his sire in his Stallion Grading.
