Rio works beautifully on the flat with 3 huge, expressive paces.

He is a true gentleman to do everything with on the ground. Easy to catch, lead, box and shoe. Always well mannered both at home and when out at a show. Affectionate and gentle temperament.

Rio hacks out well. He is more relaxed in company, but also very happy to go alone. In his current home, all hacking is on a farm and off road. He is great with farm traffic and has also hacked on country lanes in his previous home.

Rio has low competitive mileage through no fault of his own. We feel he will be incredibley rewarding for someone who is able to provide him consistency in this area, and that in the right home he will have huge success.

To date he has lightly competed BD to Novice level. In his first couple of years competing, as a 4 and 5 year old, he often scored 70%+ and also attended some young horse qualifiers.

More recently, he had a hugely successful start to his showing career. He won Riding Horse Champion at his first outing at Royal Bath and West. He subsequently went on to win the prestigious Queens Cup at only his second show at Royal Cornwall. Both in 2024.

Very sadly, due to some ongoing health issues which worsened very shortly after Rios purchase, Rios current owner is unable to give him the consistency of work that he needs. Because of this, she feels he will be better placed to fulfill his potential in a new home.

Rio is a quality, big moving horse so unsuitable for a novice rider. He also thrives on consistent work- He can be sharp on occasion without this- nothing nasty just best suited to an experienced rider and home!

This is a difficult sale of a much loved horse. He is priced to sell in order to find him a home that is perfectly suited to him.

Her Jumping technique is perfect and imitates exactly that of her sire 'Gortfree Lakeside Lad' who is an extremely successful performance stallion in Ireland having won many times at Dublin and competed in the WH at HOYS

I have produced her carefully myself from scratch
